The latest fighting between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been fierce, but it's not new and unlikely to end until the disputed Durand Line, which separates the two nations, is replaced by an internationally recognized border.

Just to say Lord Thomson of Fleet and I both had our start in my hometown of Timmins, a lovely mining town in northern Ontario. I worked at the Timmins Daily Press and he bought it.
He went on to be a media mogul and i got to witness history and meet so many truly extraordinary people. Yaay me
