Sherlock Holmes - The Devil's Foot (27th February 1965). Today's episode features location filming in Cornwall, an interesting Cornish accent from Patrick Troughton, an initially very histrionic performance from John Glyn-Jones and a more measured turn by Carl Bernard.

There has hardly been any publicity or press behind Welsh film Fires Of The Moon/Tanau’r Lloer (2025) since its release back in November.

But there’s a chance to see it next Thursday (5th March) on Channel 4, 10PM. We haven’t had chance to see it (hardly anyone has), but it looks very interesting.

It was 20 years ago today we lost the magnificent Darren McGavin to cardiovascular disease at the age of 83.

There are few movies I've seen more often than THE NIGHT STALKER, and I might have to do another rewatch today in his memory.

Love this. Deathstalker as a rogue not a warrior. A comedy that’s winking at the camera about how bad it is.

Wynorski made loads of films like that, and also, loads of porn mockbusters. Weird career.

Agreed.

The sound design was amazing too. Diegetic music, feet shuffling out of shot, even a Netflix tudum. The way Park Chan-Wook uses sound to tell stories is masterful. A craftsman, as you say, at the top of his game.

A β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… review of A Scandal in Bohemia (1921) I like that this one is less sexist than the Steven Moffat one lol Actually one of the main selling points of Sherlock was "Sherlock Holmes in the modern day" and this was technically the same just yo...

Let it be known I will always always A L W A Y S take a chance to shit on BBC's Sherlock

Last watched: Bacurau (2019). Kleber MendonΓ§a Filho’s 2019 dystopian neo-western is unsubtle but brilliant, Mad Max if directed by Robert Altman, skewed through with a fierce anti colonialist allegory.

Recommended.

Rest in peace Tom Noonan. Legitimately one of my favourite actors - I always smiled whenever he turned up randomly in stuff. Loved him in RoboCop 2, he made that film way more entertaining than it had any right to be. Also fantastic in Manhunter, Last Action Hero, The X-Files, The House of the Devil

Consider it added to my watchlist. 🫑

Had a skim through her filmography and I’m not sure I’ve seen any of her stuff (apart from Noe’s Enter the Void) so looks like you’ve pointed me toward a very cool rabbit hole! πŸ™

The plague doctor look was very effectively used in Andy Mitton’s The Harbinger too. Great little psychological horror.
