i think what the ffmpeg twitter deliberately leaves out when they write a snarky quote tweet about rust is there really isnt such a thing as a 'slow language.' slow implementations sure, but its not like theres some inherent property of rust or python that makes code run slower for no reason

all languages have their own merits and while some are more useful than others, there's no true "absolute best and most needed" language for every possible usecase for every possible programmer. i use scratch sometimes to slap basic apps together as POCs or as quick dirty tools for shit. who gaf

exactly exactly. and i suppose assembly can be useful for raw performance but besides that in a FEW small cases, i see no reason to learn assembly (if you can already do C++ for example) unless you're programming a specific (and likely old) CPU (such as making a homebrew n64 game)
