22.09.2025 17:09 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Hi ari, earthquake alerts are critical emergency alerts such that they go through do-not-disturb/silent settings. Alerts will have audio telling you to "Drop, Cover, and Hold On". If you felt the earthquake and didn't get an alert, you might have been outside the alerting region/MMI 3 contour
22.09.2025 17:06 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0MMI contours for M4.3 earthquake
Hi Mike, alerts are critical and high priority such that they punch through silent mode and do-not-disturb. Your location (or last transmitted location) might have been outside of the alerting area which is the MMI 3 zone in the attached image. Contact us at myshake-info@berkeley.edu if not.
22.09.2025 16:19 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Hi Pinole Community Radio, if you are very close to the epicenter, the earthquake shaking will get to you before the alert does. The current earthquake location sets it by Oakland/Berkeley so if you were in Pinole at the time, it's likely some other reason- possibly cell service.
22.09.2025 16:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Hi there, send us an email at myshake-info@berkeley.edu. You'll get directions on sending us debug info- the debug info is the best way for us to determine what might have happened.

29.06.2025 02:52 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yes! While magnitude and location are being determined, the earthquake is still happening. This only takes a few seconds, but the farther you are, the more time you have before the stronger shaking arrives and the more warning you will have as well.
14.04.2025 17:52 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Sorry about that! The closer you are to the epicenter, the more difficult it is to send an alert before strong shaking reaches you. Hopefully, you remembered to Drop, Cover, and Hold on!
14.04.2025 17:45 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Hi Greg, it could be your map filter settings. Try going to filters and adjusting the magnitude/time scale. If you aren't seeing any earthquakes at all on the map even for low magnitudes, send us a message at myshake-info@berkeley.edu and we'll get back to you.

We're sorry to hear that. The information on our app updates as information from the USGS comes in so sometimes there can be delays as the parameters behind the earthquake (magnitude, location, depth) change. It should definitely be there now- try changing the filters if it's not on the map.
