Fraud predates the rise of the crypto industry by many years. You don’t need to use crypto to steal other peoples’ money. But a DAO, as a structure, gives us a unique set of tools with which to fight fraud. Many may think that a DAO works by just using a token to vote on all major decisions. In reality, however, DAOs and token-based governance are much more complicated than they seem. And as we’ve seen across many DAOs, token-based voting can end up concentrating the bulk of power with only a few, a problem exacerbated by far lower participation across the board than in traditional elections. We need better safeguards, both for ensuring DAOs don’t turn into plutocracies and for ensuring that one person can’t abscond with any on-chain organization’s funds. That includes exchanges — whether they’re run by a leadership team or run by their community. Imagine if any movement of user funds was locked at the smart contract or software level, without any backdoor. Mix in a third-party a
Kushagra Agarwal is the Co-Founder of Samudai, a DAO project management platform that enables collaboration and bounty management for admins, project managers, and contributors.
Samudai treasury drained November 10, 2023 The treasury of the Samudai DAO was apparently drained as an attacker compromised the project's multisignature wallets and the wallet belonging to the project's founder, Kushagra Agarwal. Altogether, around $1.25 million in ETH was stolen. Agarwal sent a message to the thief shortly afterwards, offering a 10% "bounty" in exchange for the return of the rest of the funds. The attacker didn't seem to be interested, and in mid-January began tumbling the assets through the Tornado Cash cryptocurrency mixer. Samudai didn't seem to publicly acknowledge the theft, even though they've posted on Twitter a few times since then. The organization had raised $2.5 million in pre-seed capital in June 2022.

My local bakery has ah-mazing donuts. Really lovely, soft, old fashioned cake donuts. Nothing crazy covered in bacon bites and spinkled with Lucky Charms, just warm and perfectly sweet donuts.
Their croissants though….You could pound nails with em.
A final dusting of snow for my final morning with the Sterrato. Sad to see it go. If I had unreasonable amounts of money this would surely make for a fine four-season plaything.
