Liberation Peak is really up there with one of the worst maps in Battlefield history. I am completely baffled at people who love this shitshow.

The Faye/Egypt speculation comes from recent rumours of Egypt being a new setting mashed with Nate's latest comments. If it's not Egypt, it'll be a prequel with Laufey/Faye and the exodus of the giants. Again, hard to care with how Ragnarok fumbled the narrative and mythology, but we shall see.

And if it's another fucking Norse game it's going to be hard to get excited at all. Adore '18 for a multitude of reasons, but Ragnarok fumbled so much of its own potential and premise I don't really have a lot of love for SSM tackling the mythology again.

Having Deborah Ann Woll lead the protagonist and shifting to Egypt would be lovely. But Ragnarok cemented my feelings that I don't have a lot of love for God of War, as a series, outside of 2 and '18. Particularly the unfiltered Americanisation of characters and script, of which Ragnarok was ripe.

Waiting for the bad CGI exposรฉ showing that there was actually a secret Iranian nuclear missile stockpile under the school, and that all the 'schoolgirls' were actually terrorist engineers working on the weapons.

Of course Albanese backs US/Israel imperialism. He's a fucking cunt.

It's so fucking dumb man. I just do not see how this shit doesn't flag during development and design, and someone goes "yeah maybe this is fucking stupid and not fun". Battlefield 6 is a good game but it's that meme of the guy putting a stick in his own bike wheel spokes and wondering what happened.

01.03.2026 08:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And because the map is smaller, and so densely urban, you also can't camp at a distance and get clean sniper cover fire going. Either your air (again, your one air) has to cover all the unintentional camping spots, or you have to hope you can get the jump on them, from the ground, RIGHT UNDER THEM.

01.03.2026 08:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Manhattan is a smallish map, very urban, and classically Battlefield 6. It funnels people through city streets and courtyards. It has one 'genuine' high rooftop with a capture point (great!), but it's simply not enough to counter the abundance of cheaper, unintentional rooftops players now camp.

01.03.2026 08:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Size and scale afford this. Proper sized Battlefield maps can stick a high rise somewhere else and bam, you've got a counter spot. It puts pressures on 'wrong building' rooftop campers knowing they aren't ever truly safe. Counter fire can come from long range, ground or rooftop, or air.

01.03.2026 08:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This isn't a problem in better Battlefield games with better maps because rooftop camping was clearly considered early on in the map's design, and the size of the map alongside multiple, alternative, legitimate vantage points afforded snipers and others opportunities to counter the campers.

01.03.2026 08:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It's a densely urban map where players have learned which buildings you cannot naturally scale, and have the greatest vantage points for defending objectives, and use air to get up on them. And that's fine on paper, but unless your air (of which you have one (1)) is doing it's job, you're fucked.

01.03.2026 08:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I probably like Battlefield 6 a lot more than many of the vocal people who really hate it, but man, sometimes shit is in this game that just makes me so fucking upset at what the fuck DICE is doing. The Manhattan map, a map I like, is now basically unplayable due to rooftop camping exploits.

It also prooobably should revert to the original FOV whenever inspecting or interacting with an object, to retain intended close-up camera angles and framing. Requiem handles FOV very...weirdly.

01.03.2026 07:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

All I need is REFramework to tweak FOV in first person separate to cutscenes and there's enough fixaroonies for RE: Requiem that I'd be happy to start really sinking into it. The FOV fix is great, but applies universally to everything, including cutscenes, botching cinematic framing and intent.

Bad FOV and clumsy aiming settings buried in a menu so nonsensical Capcom had to put a separate news post up about it.

I'm getting a lot of smudging and very slow compilation of the path tracing (or at least that's what it seems). I know PT is computationally expensive, but this is maybe the nosiest, IQ killing implementation I've ever seen. Apparently forcing a different RR preset mitigates the noise somewhat.

These posts come courtesy of seeing SEND HELP tonight. It was good fun! Not great, but good. McAdams remains wife-for-life and O'Brien nails the utterly repugnant, sleazeball corporate bro persona. The most full-Raimi parts were unsurprisingly the greatest highlights. Good fun cinema.

It just looks so wrought and unappealing to me. Like a performative, over-serious kitsch of the material it's working with, deeply obsessed with an identity of desperate profoundness. I hope this is just mangled marketing because fucking hell.

28.02.2026 11:37 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The thing with The Bride! is that logically Jessie Buckley is tremendous (I've been saying this for YEARS), Hollywood shlock aside Christian Bale is genuinely a tremendous performer, and Maggie Gyllenhaal more than proved her chops with The Lost Daughter. But maaan those trailers๐Ÿคฎ.

Call me when they make a Pokemon game where a virus has rendered "Pocket Monsters" near extinct, and society has adapted to the absence of forced animal labour and the animal fighting economy. Talented scientists are on the verge of a cure but the moral dilemma of returning the world before remains.

28.02.2026 10:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And that's okay. It's fine. But the point is that what people really 'need' from a re-release of Bloodborne is not a remake or reimagining or new set of assets or anything. They just need the game ported to modern hardware, with the rendering engine accommodating modern resolution and performance.

28.02.2026 09:14 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

A Bluepoint remake of Bloodborne would not be Bloodborne as you know it. It would be a Bluepoint remake of Bloodborne. Probably good fun shit, and gorgeous too. But it would not feel exactly like FROM's work. It would not retain, in full, in absolutism, FROM's nuanced direction in presentation.

28.02.2026 09:14 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The end result is a game that still looks gorgeous and accomplished but does not quite nail what FROM went for. Demon's Soul is very dreamy, the remake is not. The remake is harder in its dark gothic visual influence, less in the dreamy, nightmarish abstract. And it's fine! But it's its own thing.

28.02.2026 09:14 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I really adore Bluepoint's work on Demon's Souls. I think it's a gorgeous, technically and artistically, reimagining of FROM's work. But it's exactly that; a reimagining. It takes FROM's vision and refilters it through a new creative lens, as expected by having a new visual production team.
