Welcome to this week’s EdInsight. As we approach the end of Black History Month, we’d like to talk about why Brown v. Board of Education still matters.

At a time when people are losing their health care, the cost of living is rising, and there is chaos in Washington, we know he will help guide our country with the same steady hand that brought peace and prosperity to our state.

Roy Cooper has been a champion for our public schools, our educators, and North Carolina's working-class families. He has always pushed to empower our educators and for our state to make meaningful investments in our schools.

As Black History Month comes to a close, we want to share a quote from Mary McLeod Bethune, educator and civil rights activist, that embodies their work every day. Thank you for all you do!

Black educators have an impact at every level of education. We are grateful for the wisdom, experience, and skill they bring to our public schools each day. We want to give them a special shout-out and express our gratitude.

Since 2013, state leaders have enacted a series of laws that steadily reduced personal income tax rates and set the state on a path to eliminate the corporate income tax entirely.

Meanwhile, public schools facing staff shortages and aging facilities are left underfunded, diverting taxpayer dollars away from the students who need them most.

Public funds for private schools are projected to grow to $825 million by 2033. Currently, hundreds of millions are going to families whose children already attend private schools.
