The grift is strong in that one.
Her pivot, fast it is.
Be cautious.

Couldn't happen to better people! I mean, corporations. Oh wait, according to SCOTUS they're people too. With voices. From the machine's black box.

challenge is taking society back from this hellscape brink, and I don't have any answers. I'm old enough that all the systems I have known or could imagine have failed. And hoping for elections to prevail feels naΓ―ve.

I dream of MAGA's implosion, but worry it will "fall of Rome" the country.

Here's the thing:

there are A LOT of people around our country who AGREE with and WISH TO EMULATE this behavior.

Men who want to be this way; women who are ok with it. The rest of us aghast, but disenfranchised by civil society supplanted by MAGA.

THAT is why he stays where he is. Our

Day to day, you can't tell if he's a Russian puppet, a crunchy billionaire sock, a Saudi cuck, it just...the grift! As much as it's about avoiding consequences/jail, it's mostly the cold hard cash.

Heimlich After I Eat Poetry Too Quickly Again by Todd Dillard It's all coming up now, milkweed and mango, grandmothers in kitchens with their stoic spoons, crows barking in alder trees, enough dead deer to overflow football stadiums, sad fathers with their boots…

new Todd Dillard on HAD always a treat of a day!
read the poem Todd said about, "I wanted the poem to look a little barfy, so the odd indent as the lines lengthen are fine IMO"

"It's all coming up now,
milkweed and mango,
grandmothers in kitchens..."

A great read about an important, if not always fully presented, topic. But I think about it all the time when I'm crossing campus and see young people on their phones vs walking/talking with peers!

Great article! Working in higher ed, lots of young adults, I see them all glued to their phones all day long! Capitalism is indeed the culprit, and inadvertently, parents who, being beholden to capitalism, don't have the time/resource to help kids touch grass!

I feel that's my brain and my body telling me to let it go.

Second time this has happened in the past decade. Younger me would've protested, but me now is all "too tired, less worry please."

Maybe that's wisdom, maybe it's maybe-line.

Made the decision to give up on a full length manuscript I "finished" in early 2024, despite great feedback, lots of continuing revisions, and some of the work appearing in journals...because I reached this weird place where the project baffles me. I read it and tinker and still....a disconnect. And

If anyone's wondering why our utility bills have skyrocketed...we're paying for the data centers so thieves and goons can make AI slop.

(Yeah yeah AI has some proper good uses in science and medicine, but honestly, most people are using it for total dreck.)

And Kimmy has exited the draft! LOL

Writing these gay wedding poems, I keep feeling like I SHOULD inject some politics into them, but the poems keep saying NO.

Here's what happens when private equity buys homes in your neighborhood What makes rents go down and neighborhood diversity go up? Corporate landlords. But they also make it harder to own for yourself.

men want to be part of cabal than are willing to admit it. But you can see their intentions in their actions. Not their protest too much words, just their actions.

That NYT story on Gaetz is quite illustrative of the core of MAGA. Their entire "for me, not thee" mentality and their immoral flexibility in the effort to retain old white men power structures.

And, it reminded me waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much of my youth in Appalachia, of how way more

You just have to take one look/listen/read of the people pushing AI to know it's trash, will be trash, is unlikely to not ever be trash and thievery and racism and homicidal if we don't guardrail it five years ago.
