Today, approx. 135 of the 185 total NEH staffers woke up to the news that their positions were being RIFed. Then, almost all current grantees received emails cancelling their grants. Tell me again that we don't need humanities courses

This comes after the recent statement from @royalhistsoc.bsky.social, History UK, @ihr.bsky.social and @histassoc.bsky.social.

We'll continue to advocate for humanities everywhere, and partner with historical associations to support scholars wherever we can.

Two google searches. One, 'gdp of uk vs Russia' has an AI overview stating that Russia has a larger GDP than the UK. The other, 'gdp of russia vs uk' states that the UK has a higher GDP than Russia.

This was two Google searches yesterday.

If these don't illustrate the need for robust humanities education, I don't know what does.

Gale will continue to support the humanities as they educate students for the challenges of the 21st century.
