Just watched UNTIL DAWN. The first dud of the year. A video game movie where people get killed a lot and time reboots.

I've been doing this for another reason and can recommend the BBC version that's on Netflix. It strays far from the original but inverts a bunch of tropes and was a fun change.

I got all you calendars for the three weird adults in my life. But I regret there are no 'squid facts' ones. Did send the squid hotline number to the squid fan though.
(and if my son lied about his fiancee liking squid? That was a big mistake that will resonate into the future)

24 was several total career changes and two kids ago. I didn't even get serious about writing for another 10 years or so, and didn't sell until 44. Two more decades have passed and I am still finding new things to write.

The only thing I miss about 24 is my ankles. And maybe my knees.

Just watched CAVEAT. By the writer and director of ODDITY, which was my favorite movie of last year.

Hot damn. Why does Damian McCarthy have only two movies? If you like horror, you need to see both of these.

Watched one of my favorite horror movies today. HOUSEBOUND is the first movie of the guy who gave you M3GAN.

It's a genius balance of comedy and scares.

I watch a lot of horror movies, but have never seen a ghost.
Probably because if a harbinger of doom shows up and says:

Today's movies. THE INNKEEPERS (solid ghost story by Ty West) and TARANTULA.

The best thing about the monsters of the 50's is that the women all had cool jobs. Lot's of girl scientists and plucky reporters.

Thoughts on the Netflix Ed Gein series.

No one wants to see him naked.

More red wine drunk in that series than was available in all of Central Wisconsin

Netflix has managed to sensationalize the Ed Gein story.

And frankly, that shouldn't even be possible.

Watching the Ed Gein story on Netflix. They're talking about 'the dead heart of Wisconsin'.

Yeah, I grew up much closer to the dead heart than he did. That's in Pittsville.

This didn't click for me until I saw Kalen Hughes. I was in the Golden Hearts with her and remember her as someone who had such a wonderful light inside.

If you go see GOOD BOY, stay after the 45-second end credits for a short piece on how they made the film. The director emphasizes that Indy had no idea he was in a movie, and they just had to shoot hundreds of hours of footage for almost 3 years to get each shot. Kinda like working with Jared Leto.

Indie has better hair.

Writing with THE WITCH IN THE WINDOW on in the background. A nice, melancholy ghost story to take away the existential freakout caused by watching GOOD BOY.

ALTERED STATES is a movie about a pretentious asshole who takes Ayahuasca and a warm bath and becomes a caveman.

I know I saw this movie several times in the theater as a teen. All I got out of it then was that William Hurt was kind of hot.
