The TV remote is not working and I seem to be out of batteries.
This is some kind of conspiracy by the universe to make me accomplish my to do list for the day.

Well. that kind of describes the 80's.

07.10.2025 13:08 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Just watched UNTIL DAWN. The first dud of the year. A video game movie where people get killed a lot and time reboots.
I am already tired of clown masks this season. We keep Pennywise but the rest of y'all need to take a step back.

I've been doing this for another reason and can recommend the BBC version that's on Netflix. It strays far from the original but inverts a bunch of tropes and was a fun change.
07.10.2025 01:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I got all you calendars for the three weird adults in my life. But I regret there are no 'squid facts' ones. Did send the squid hotline number to the squid fan though.
(and if my son lied about his fiancee liking squid? That was a big mistake that will resonate into the future)
24 was several total career changes and two kids ago. I didn't even get serious about writing for another 10 years or so, and didn't sell until 44. Two more decades have passed and I am still finding new things to write.
The only thing I miss about 24 is my ankles. And maybe my knees.
Just watched CAVEAT. By the writer and director of ODDITY, which was my favorite movie of last year.
Hot damn. Why does Damian McCarthy have only two movies? If you like horror, you need to see both of these.

In case you need to hear it, you are not alone. And the fact that you're in a dark place right now probably means you're a good person. The world needs all of those it can get.
06.10.2025 03:38 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Watched one of my favorite horror movies today. HOUSEBOUND is the first movie of the guy who gave you M3GAN.
It's a genius balance of comedy and scares.

This is will be one of the fundamental questions of the century. If you already have more money than you can ever need, why do you have to be such a shit?

Enough people I know are normal and sane have told me they've seen things they can't explain. So I'm not counting anything out.
But I am usually so lost in my own head writing a story that I don't see things right in front of me. If ghosts want me, they're going to have to work for it.
BLACKOUT is a werewolf movie set in Talbot Falls.
Ha! Werewolf in joke. I saw what you did there.

I watch a lot of horror movies, but have never seen a ghost.
Probably because if a harbinger of doom shows up and says:
"Don't
go in the basement... woods... old dark house... touch the Ouija board... do the thing..."
I don't do whatever the thing is.
Don't start nothin', won't be nothin'.
Today's movies. THE INNKEEPERS (solid ghost story by Ty West) and TARANTULA.
The best thing about the monsters of the 50's is that the women all had cool jobs. Lot's of girl scientists and plucky reporters.
In the 30's and 40's, they tended to be prey. #31DaysofHalloween
Thoughts on the Netflix Ed Gein series.
No one wants to see him naked.
More red wine drunk in that series than was available in all of Central Wisconsin
Didn't have a goth girlfriend.
Didn't kill a babysitter.
Bernice Worden's family should sue.
Gein being table talk in Wisconsin? YES
Netflix has managed to sensationalize the Ed Gein story.
And frankly, that shouldn't even be possible.
Watching the Ed Gein story on Netflix. They're talking about 'the dead heart of Wisconsin'.
Yeah, I grew up much closer to the dead heart than he did. That's in Pittsville.
Why yes, it is a competition.
PYEWACKET (2017)
Scary times for a poor Goth girl. An excellent 'be careful what you wish for' story.

Sorry for all our losses.
If you go see GOOD BOY, stay after the 45-second end credits for a short piece on how they made the film. The director emphasizes that Indy had no idea he was in a movie, and they just had to shoot hundreds of hours of footage for almost 3 years to get each shot. Kinda like working with Jared Leto.

An excellent crop of horror movies starting my marathon this year. #31DaysofHalloween
ALTERED STATES is a movie about a pretentious asshole who takes Ayahuasca and a warm bath and becomes a caveman.
I know I saw this movie several times in the theater as a teen. All I got out of it then was that William Hurt was kind of hot.
Now watching THE SWARM with Michael Caine. This is one of the most quotable movies ever made. Every line out of Richard Widmark's mouth should be embroidered on a pillow.
And then, there's this
