Not sure when they will admit this but Bovino and his thugs are the real border wall. They have closed the border by demonstrating such cruelty (and advertising it so completely) that nobody wants to immigrate to the US anymore.

Most of the hearing was routine. At one point, however, Straw's attorney, Christopher Parente, lodged a largely symbolic objection over his client having to turn in his passport, calling him a "boring suburban dad" and saying his whole reason for going to the protest in the first place included objecting to the government checking people's passports and papers. Parente said it wasn't fair for Straw "to sit here now and ask him to turn his passport over to the government for no reason other than they think they can," adding that "landscapers arrested by ICE cannot stand up to the government." "Mr. Straw can, and your Honor can, too," Parente said. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sheri Mecklenburg said the passport was about bond conditions, not about what ICE is doing on the streets, and that defendants have turned in their passports "in every case I've had for 19 years." After McShain decided Straw did not have to turn in his passport, Mecklenburg said she'd drop the requirement for all defendants to ensure Straw was not receiving special treatment.

Honestly just absurd charges. Absolute worst case here, they joined dozens of other people in making a car drive slower than it might have done otherwise. Meanwhile, our entire federal government is run like a cartel.

Alderman Sigcho-Lopez was right to call out Pritzker today about the state police arresting protesters. Pritzker responded that the state police are protecting protesters, and that just isn't true. State cops have arrested and brutalized protesters to facilitate ICE operations. That's reality.

Reminder that pretty much everything Bovino has told the press (and judges and juries) has turned out to be a lie. See what they do, not what Bovino says they’ll do.

I remember the day after Durbin voted for the stopgap in March, I saw him at an event with Mayor Johnson, who supposedly had approvals in the single digits. The crowd loudly cheered for the mayor, but boos and shouts of "traitor" greeted the senator.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

I believe that last photo was taken at the time CPD showed up in force and threatened to tow the cars of the folks who were following, essentially covering Bovino’s getaway.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Thank god for Dave and the other reporters who are digesting this dizzying array of cases for us. Even grasping the overall landscape of the legal battle can be overwhelming.

Community members, incl Dominic, guided me to a grassy area, gave me water to drink, washed my eyes out, and calmed me down. We keep us safe. But these unserious weapons will fuck you up.
