For brighter or fainter? I think a brighter comet would be easier to estimate visually. Also, any ob of C/2026 A1?

26.02.2026 17:55 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I have used a similar set-up, but it remains too dim and diffuse to spot in individual frames, especially under the first quarter moon.

25.02.2026 06:11 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Comet C/2024 E1 (Wierzchos) on 24 February 2026, 5:30 (UTC), from eastern Crete. There is a faint ion tail (40' long) and the dust tail (10' long) is also visible. The green coma is 6' across. Equipment: GSO N203/800 with coma corrector, unmodified Olympus E-PL5. 35x30s frames, under the first quarter Moon. Comet stack from DSS, edited with SIRIL. North is down, east is to the right.
Finally managed to image C/2024 E1 (Wierzchos), located low, at the southwest horizon. The bright ion tail of the previous week has become quite dim. The comet features a green coma and a dust tail. #cometWatch #astrophotography

17.02.2026 08:35 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Comet C/2024 E1 is currently a southern object, but from this week it will start being visible from the north temperate latitudes as well low at the southwest after sunset. Interesting dust tails structure. #cometWatch
16.02.2026 06:01 — 👍 9 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0An elongated green diffuse object (the comet) is visible in the centre, in front of a starry field, on 14 Febuary 2026, 3:50 UTC. Equipment: GSO N203/800 with coma corrector, unmodified Olympus E-PL5. 28x30s light frames. Edited with DSS and SIRIL. Image is cropped (fov about 33x25 arcmin).
C/2026 B2 (Sun-Gao) was discovered by amateur astronomers Guoyou Sun and Xing Gao on January 19 and lies low in the morning sky before dawn. It is diffuse, with a coma 2' across, and a bit faint, around mag 14. #cometWatch #astrophotography
14.02.2026 11:36 — 👍 193 🔁 15 💬 0 📌 1It is bad even here at the 35N. Dessert sand events No 4 and 5 for 2026 are approaching, and it is only the mid of February. This awful southern wind just keeps blowing. And the worst is it barely rains. Just clouds and dust.

22.01.2026 20:37 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Quite dim right now, C/2026 A1 (MAPS), formely 6AC4721, may become very bright in April, if it survives its extremely close approach to the Sun. #cometWatch
