It's been really fun working with so many amazing Michiganders to expand access to the vote while ensuring the integrity of elections. Really glad to see Michigan's efforts recognized again by @responsivegov.bsky.social with an A+!

I don't think I deserve credit for the observation that this era of increased polarization is correlated with the weakening of political parties (and other mass membership organizations). Is there good social science research on this?

Here’s why you should: We’re a small but mighty team of journalists, determined to report and guide you thru the local officials & institutions that shape nation’s approach to democracy & criminal justice.

Opinion | Don’t Do Trump’s Work for Him on Mass Deportations How big will the Trump administration go, and how quickly?

Dara Lind is a treasure. In this piece, she breaks down what mass deportations require and the logistical difficulties. Highly recommended reading www.nytimes.com/2024/11/21/o...

Trump allies eye overhauling Medicaid, food stamps in tax legislation As Republican leaders look for ways to offset the costs of a new set of tax cuts, social safety net programs are under discussion.

Cutting Medicaid means cutting health insurance for children. Here’s hoping the new Congress rejects this approach www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

I really think at its heart philosophy is one giant battle, taking place over many eras and nations, between people who are basically pleasant bureaucrats and people who are sexy murder poets, and it’s both super important and super boring that the pleasant bureaucrats must win.

Polls told us to expect vote-switching among Latinos. And indeed it seems key. But some of the persuasion effect comes out in turnout too. In most places, the drop in Dem votes was larger than the Trump hike, signs of both crossover & demoralized Ds. Voter files will help here.
