The only things protected by the US government now are billionaires, Israel, and the Epstein files.

I'm forced to the conclusion that a certain type of pro-Israeli Western Christian doesn't actually see the place as real, and certainly doesn't see the Christians of the Middle East whose lives have been made much, much harder by the policies they back.

It's just a sort of apocalyptic theme park.

Did the descriptor β€œunserious people” take off from Succession, or was it popular before that?

Who’s Deciding Where the Bombs Drop in Iran? Maybe Not Even Humans. Behind last week’s scrum between the Trump administration and Anthropic lies a deeper question of how warfare is conductedβ€”and whether accountability even exists anymore.

We may be β€œwitnessing the fullest expression of the most inhumane weapons of the twenty-first century: autonomous bombs and missiles. Their β€œautonomy” refers to the fact that humans need not be β€œin the loop” in any meaningful way when deciding where to target or whether to launch such weapons.β€œ

When someone says β€œI really like this” movie / TV show / book / video games etc, I’m intrigued by the impulse some folks have to waddle into their replies and say β€œoh, but EYE didn’t like it.”

What is that impulse? What’s its intention / social function?

I know there are 8 billion issues with this project, but shallowly I can’t even get past the actors being less attractive than the real people they’re meant to portray.

The interesting thing about AI is how committed executives are to using it after it measurably fails catastrophically at its goals. Like there seems to be no limit to how badly it can fuck up and still be heralded as the future of technology

Israel is bombarding, literally bombarding, two Middle East capitals, Beirut and Tehran, killing 100s of civilians, and yet the US and UK media continue to portray Iran as the threat to the region.

Israel has nukes, but Iran is the nuclear threat.

We live in Orwellian times.

The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iranian Naval Ship The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countriesβ€”including the United States.

This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

Barnard's chart on the "need for AI literacy" is, to me, mind-boggling, it's bizarre acceptance of the premise, in service of the ultimate goal... creating more AI! This really is "To serve humans."
