The deliciousness of little moose bollocks day courtesy of #LaMotteWine. Harvest treat made with fermenting grape must as yeast & flavoured with carraway seeds. Oh and they’re not really called β€˜little moose bollocks’. Although I think they should be #mosbolletjies

Chris and the #IWC have been huge supporters of our #WSET courses here in South Africa, helping hundreds of students gain life-changing qualifications. Very best of luck Chris & keep doing your thing :)

Flying the flag for South African wines at the #MastersofWine seminar with Richard Kershaw MW. Plenty of MWs here to learn alongside students!

I think if it’s broken up into pieces from 1 big sheet, it won’t have choc. Individual pieces might be covered in choc but that would be chocolate-covered toffee, not just toffee. Toffee with nuts in is fine and normal tho. So inconsistent!

It took me almost 2 years but my son finally has his South African ID book. And now today he used it to apply for a learner's driving licence. I didn't think this one through at all did I?

A glimmer of hope but will it get off the ground?

Wine is illogical. Why do we call a liquid 'dry'? Why, when we add sugar too a sherry, do we refer to it as a dairy product? Why isn't Barbaresco made from Barbera?? These things are not helpful!!

re number 4 - don't forget to confuse your listeners even further by throwing in left bank grand cru classe as well. My least favourite conversation on WSET level 2. Poor things.

Be safe Robert. And tell your friends there are people around the world cheering them on

Without being priggish there is also a v serious safety issue here. If people lie on the labels and wines are drunk in the belief they are lower abv than they are, there is a huge possibility of accidents & harm

Lovely evening last night celebrating 20 years of the Pebbles Project. Originally set up to help SA farm children affected by Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, they now run a range of programmes changing the lives of young people. Congrats to Sophy & her team of 117 staff - doing amazing work

Bracing myself today for a flurry of 'Oh look at us, we got great scores' emails as the 2025 Platter wine guide gets released. #deletedeletedelete

Hugely respected for everything she’s done for South Africa, South Africans and South African wine. Absolute legend.

And you know that it's being made in the UK now as well - as a red wine, not as a bubbly.......

Here we go - some of my top Pinotages - Beeslaar, Ashbourne by Hamilton Russell, Beaumont, B Vintners Liberte, Kanonkop. Sure @angelalloyd.bsky.social can add a few more. Also consider Cape Blends from Beyerskloof, Kanonkop, Beaumont. @vinosity.bsky.social

Happy 100th birthday to Pinotage, created 100 years ago yesterday by Professor Abraham Perold. Yes, I know you all think you hate it but if you haven't tried one in the last few years then believe me, you have no idea what you're talking about. Feel free to ask for a list of mind-changing Pinotages!

I was thinking along the lines of lipstick on a pig? But even without pearls, it's a cute cat so that wasn't quite working!
