The latest reference was in 2011, Dr Jekyll and Mr Fame by Black Cards (better known as Bebe Rexha and Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy). I'm ?!?! So baffled!!! This is like common knowledge!!!

I saw someone not know who Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was... This is like... A classic literary work from the Frankenstein era of Horror. Referenced in many forms of media ever since it's creation in the 1880s. I've seen references to it all my life like Frankenstein and the axe murderer of New Orleans!

Please tell me people born before 2010 know classic English literary work from the US and UK and NOT just people born before 2002. I would wish for everyone in the Anglosphere to along with stories from each of us but... I have low hopes.

I'm making playlists of songs I "rolled" on my retro tv for each year and I saw the worst spray tan when rolling songs for 2005 I do not want to romanticize the 2000s anymore. Also... Kinda concerned that she's underweight.

The video's creator, solid Pop artist. I don't really care for her music but she worked hard and is flipping off Spotify. I give her kudos for that but saying Indie and Independent threw me off because those words mean endearing deep sewer music with a shoegaze pedal to me.

This is 110% why Gen Z are already old people because I saw a well established Pop artist and was like "nah, you don't sound like your music was made in an obscure studio or bedroom and using old ass video equipment for music videos with shitty filters. That's not Indie."

With all do respect to that artist who made that video, you're an Independent Pop artist not an Indie Pop artist. There's a difference. Indie sounds like it's recorded in a sewer and uses the cheapest materials out there in a creative way by the poor and the rich to create innovative sounds.

NOPE! I'm Gen Z. After watching that "I spent $100K to make an album and Spotify took it down" video I had the most Boomer response.

I know what I'm born for. Someone holding a hairdryer in front of a green, lush field under a night sky with golden doodles in the sky + a moon. Washi tape on the corners.

You must be reminded why you are on the path you're on. A very messy collage of baskets of onions, calligraphy, small dog, a photographer, a hand with glitter poorly cut out looking like it's spraying pink and glitter, and bright drain filter glitter needles.

Make it make sense! I love Stomp Clap Hey too! I don't care! However... The Lumineers and Alex Warren isn't the best Stomp Clap Hey of 2025. Even then... Again... Nobody wants to be nostalgic for Stomp Clap Hey right now!!

I genuinely think Billboard doesn't represent the people anymore and it's making Pop fans upset. Morgan Wallen not escaping is one thing but The Lumineers being on the charts when everyone is roasting the living crap out of Stomp Clap Hey? Nah. I don't buy it. PJAMA - INOLVIDABLE is what a late 2020s album SHOULD be! Hell yeah! Rock! Pop! Alternative! A couple of Country tracks! Absolutely a fun listen! None of this bland Pop Country bullshit! This is what should be on the radio!

Generations aren't meant to encompass everyone's experiences. It's a loose model meant to mark what may have shaped a person through current events.

2025 music recommendation

魚條 - 忘形 Rock 魚條's (Fish Stick's) new album 忘形 (Composite) surprised me in the best way. Their 2019 release was Post Punk leaning, it had heavier moments but not many. While their 2022 release was more calm and Alternative. Unlike the past two albums, 忘形 has a heavy start. Unclean vocals came in during the second track and it took me off guard. Having heavier tracks in the first half was energizing and is refreshing for their discography. To tie the album together, the second half is more mellow like their 2022 release. Even though that's the case, all of the tracks transition well into each other. It's a roller coaster of a listen. Due to the language barrier, I have no other thoughts on the lyrics but... Definitely a good listen! Rating based on sound: 4.8/5

Yassa Blaster - CONNEXION Pop The second EP from French-Senegalese band, Yassa Blaster, is truly captivating. CONNEXION is fun and a bit nostalgic. With Summer here, this is perfect for the sunny vibes. In this humidity, I'd rather stay inside than properly enjoy the Summer outside but... Upbeat Synthpop that you'd have on a party playlist is still needed regardless of if the humidity is too much to handle or not. Before the EP was released, DEM DEM was on repeat for me. After the EP, BAYIMA and MÉLONN joined that song as definite favorites. However, the whole EP is a great time. Rating: 4.8/5
