We had such a great time last night judging the @twm_colchester @twmlive Battle of the Bands!

We're massively proud to be from Colchester. There was so much talent on that stage!

We're collaborating with Clacton and Jaywick activists Clacton Arts Centre to put on a full band LOVE MUSIC HATE RACISM show!

The aim of Clacton Arts Centre is to raise the cultural profile of the town above Nigel Farage. We're massively proud to be backing this.

The Last Kind of Acoustic shows 🤘

This is the final run of our Kind of Acoustic tour. Four small, intimate gigs, including our rescheduled Edinburgh date.

These will be our final shows before The Fractured Party 👀 and the final chance to see these tunes in their full band raw form.

It's been a while since our acoustic album dropped.

🚨 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! 🚨

The one and only DJ PressPlay is joining us at The Fractured Party IV at The Garage, London, on May 4th! 🎉

Colchester legend and momentary internet sensation (yes, that viral DJ with the infamous request sign!) will be bringing the energy before and between every set🔥

If we'd been signed in our teens or early twenties, we would have bankrupted ourselves before our first tour.

I wonder what can be done to support the next generation of musicians? Or are we doomed forever to a music industry that favours those with financial security?

We're lucky to have got signed when we'd built up some quickly burnt-through reserves and are now supported brilliantly by Xtra Mile Recordings. We also have the backing of an amazing fanbase in the FRACTURED PARTY PEOPLE (official PET NEEDS fan group). Without them, we couldn't afford to do this.

And I'm not even super working class. We didn't have holidays abroad, designer clothes or fancy meals out, but we genuinely didn't feel we needed them. Way more importantly, we had parents who nurtured our creativity.

I was still writing music and gigging every weekend at the time this photo was taken.

If I'd got signed right then, with no savings, extortionate rent and having to pay with scratch cards to afford the fuel to get to work, how would I have afforded to rent a van, tour the UK, or Europe, or the USA?

The child in the photo wouldn't have been able to afford to tour. Most of us spend our teens and twenties living month to month, heart achingly slowly trying to build reserves to pay off credit card bills and put away money for a mortgage, whilst paying rent way more than what a mortgage would cost.

If fans start buying tickets early, promoters take less risk.

For bands, it’s stressful when tickets move slowly. But for independent promoters, it’s make-or-break.

Buying early helps keep live music alive.

The future of live music depends on this one thing...

✅ Best case: You buy early → promoters gain confidence → are able to pay off the rising cost and offer bigger guarantees for bands → the shows are packed and fun.

❌ Worst case: You wait → tickets don’t sell → shows get cancelled.
