200 pages in and...I'm mostly enjoying it. The ideas presented are mind-boggling and fascinating, but I'm having trouble connecting with characters, I find them cold and distant and this middle sections pacing is a bit lumpy. I shall continue though, there's more than enough to keep me reading.

Excellent. I'm 200 pages into Revelation Space and really enjoying it. Some fantastic concepts.

Winning at Sunday

Today will consist of coffee, a book and sunshine. Sunday completed.

Well this has got the most traction I've ever had on Bluesky. Honestly my reading tastes and habits over the past year have informed which booktube channels I want to watch- & its ejected most 'titan' sized, and many mid-sized, channels & introduced me to the better, more in-depth, smaller channels.

And I can think of a couple of the mid-size channels of the top of my head that chase the algo and pump out negative trash who I unsubbed *very* quickly.

For sure. There are a couple of the titans I do watch for the reason you said, to track shifts and trends in the industry.

That is another thing. Some (and I do emphasise some) of the big booktubers do put on a performance and doesn't feel authentic - doesn't feel like you are engaging with a real person, a friend you're discussing books with.

Which is why I mostly engage with the smaller channels, as they tend to chat about books that don't gey a look-in on the larger ones. I watch a few scifi only booktube channels and they are always lesser known, obscure books, which I love to see.

I will try again on booktube, but I am rethinking my whole concept, theme and content of what that will be in the SFF booksphere and may also vlog my studies as well.

To be honest, as well as beginning a degree in October, the main reason I stopped my channel was because I found those larger channels to be generally unsupportive of the smaller channels & the negative click bait stuff really got to me.

I'm much more interested in the smaller channels that read what they want, make review videos despite being told "you'll never make it if you do that", and, I think, create much more interesting and debate-encouraging videos.

I was wondering if anyones booktube tastes have changed over time?

I hardly watch any of the 'big' channels anymore. Mainly because they have similar types of videos, all read the same thing &, in many cases, concentrate on negative topic videos so they have click bait, algorithm-catching videos.

My next read and my first Alastair Reynolds book (Yeah, I know, shut up). This has been recommended on three of my favourite Scifi booktube channels, so I have confident hope I will enjoy this. Looking forward to some big scifi concepts and mind-boggling scope.

When, when, when? I need my next Sam Adams fix!

I've recently started a rewatch of S1 and remember why I love the show so much. The tone, the atmosphere, the whole vibe of that first season is just *chefs kiss*

Yeah, I'm only aiming to read The Dark Elf Trilogy and The Icewind Dale Trilogy and will probably leave it at that...maybe.

My first foray into the Forgotten Realms books and beginning with The Legend of Drizzt series, Homeland by R A Salvatore. Halfway through and I am having a ball. Drizzt is such a cool character. Great world building and some fantastic supporting cast.

I highly recommend A Palace Near The Wind by @aijiang.bsky.social Its a beautiful high fantasy story with gorgeous prose. It's 184 pages.
