June Lockhart, one of our favorite TV moms of all time on both Lassie and Lost in Space, has died at 100. Lockhart, daughter of actor Gene Lockhart, began her big screen career in an uncredited role in 1938's A Christmas Carol, followed by a major role in 1940's All This, and Heaven Too. Other notable films included Sergeant York, Miss Annie Rooney, Meet Me in St. Louis, Son of Lassie, and She-Wolf of London before transitioning to television roles. She portrayed Ruth Martin on the TV series Lassie from Season 5 to Season 10 full time, followed by the 1963 feature film Lassie's Great Adventure and the first two Season 11 episodes before the series was reformatted in 1964. She also had a role in the 1989 revival series The New Lassie. Lockhart made her Broadway debut in 1947's For Love or Money, winning the first Tony Award for Outstanding Performance by a Newcomer. In 1965 she took on the role of Maureen Robinson in Irwin Allen's sci-fi series Lost in Space for three seasons, and also played the Principal in the 1998 feature film as well as providing the voice of Alpha Control in a 2021 episode of Netflix's reimagining of the classic series. She joined Petticoat Junction as Dr. Janet Craig for the final two seasons (1969-1970), replacing series star Bea Benaderet following her death. In 1974 she was a voice actor on the animated series These Are the Days, and in 1984 she appeared on 46 episodes of General Hospital. Other notable credits include Love, American Style, Marcus Welby, M.D., Adam-12, Happy Days, Magnum, P.I., Falcon Crest, Knots Landing, The Greatest American Hero, Murder, She Wrote, The Colbys, Amazing Stories, It's Garry Shandling's Show, Full House, Babylon 5, Roseanne, Step by Step, 7th Heaven, The Drew Carey Show, Las Vegas, and Grey's Anatomy. She also appeared in the classic holilday TV movie The Night They Saved Christmas. Notable films include Butterfly, Deadly Games, Strange Invaders, Troll, The Big Picture, and Sleep with Me.
