It's gonna take me a while to get back where I left off in terms of fitness, but I'm already feeling better as of today just trying manage my time better. I'm also trying jogging to the gym now instead of driving there so that might help burn off some chub.

I'm aware reducing social media time won't fix all our problems or the world and all that, but there was a good few months last year where I'd just put my phone in my backpack or leave it in the car while working out... and at least physically, even a bit mentally, I felt great. Maybe try it.

Ah, don't call it neurospice 😮‍💨ADHD is a real thing. I don't know what it's like exactly but I've read about it. And finding work has become difficult. Social media BARELY is the reason I get freelance. I have to apply on forums.. or they come through my abandoned WordPress website somehow.

You also have a day job or some kind of ordinary work too right? I imagine that takes a lot of time and energy. I remember when I was doing warehouse or cashier work, it felt like I only had 4 hours of draw time afterwards, but sometimes I'd be too tired to even use that time to draw.

I think for apps like Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky designed and labeled as "social media", they've never really been all that social in the first place. They can be if we're very careful about how we use it, but it's never been the original intent of these companies.

Also, we'd be better off searching for relevant art references rather than relying on the random social media algorithm to present useful references to us.

I can't say I know what Twitter is like today because I deleted my account a few years ago, but I do remember I got some work through it. These days I find getting work on social media harder, but applying to jobs and my abandoned WordPress website still gets me work so I have 3 clients right now.

If we truly look at art for inspiration for our own creative work, then it shouldn't be a quick glance, like drop, and something we quickly forget about. It should be more about studying what they do well or better than us and remember so that we can apply that to our own work.

Because of that, I find SM generally useless for anything other than posting creative work... but even that doesn't get people responding much beyond dropping likes.

The other thing it's good for is viewing other creative people's work "for inspiration", but... addictive slippery slope, not worth.

I was a bit exaggerating, but she's kind of the one who sets up the movie nights, game jams, and art study/challenges. But yeah, no pressure at all! Just if you ever need a little extra company, it's kind of a peaceful online place which is rare.

I mean let's be real, none of us are always active online and I don't think it's good for anyone to always be online... but Bleu is always in there! So technically I lied! I don't know how she's always streaming in U.S. time when she's lives in France! 😂

The Pixel Parlor is another game dev/art server, run by Josh, but I think the frequent streams they do there keep the server alive. Art, game dev, movies, challenges, etc. Most servers allow streams, but these streams are generally group activities. It's not overpopulated but the people are fun imo.
