Chancellor Rachel Reeves admits tax rises and spending cuts considered for budget
Speaking exclusively to Sky's deputy political editor Sam Coates, Rachel Reeves says Brexit, austerity, and the Liz Truss mini-budget have all played a role in damaging Britain's economy - as she prep...
Families and businesses fear more tax hikes after the Tories' stealth tax and this Governmentβs unfair jobs tax. The Chancellor must rule out extending these stealth taxes. We need a real growth plan and the big banks, tech giants and gambling firms must be made to pay their fair share.

The Government's decision to abolish Healthwatch is hugely concerning and risks patients' voices being lost. I and many @libdems.org.uk colleagues have written to the Government to urge it to reverse the decision, and guarantee funding for independent patient advocacy services.

News of a ceasefire deal in Gaza brings real hope.
The UK and our allies must do all we can to get the hostages home, get aid in to starving people, and finally end this horrific violence.
This must be the first step towards a two-state solution and a lasting peace.

βTwo years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamasβs evil terrorist attack on Israel. 1,200 innocent people brutally slain, including hundreds of young people at a music festival. Others raped, sexually assaulted and mutilated. 251 people taken hostage, ripped away from their families.
βThose terror attacks also triggered a shocking rise in antisemitism here in the UK β a terrible scourge that took the lives of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz at their synagogue last week.
βWe stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.
βThis cycle of violence has gone on for far too long, caused far too much suffering and claimed far too many innocent lives.
βWith new peace talks under way, we desperately hope that they will finally see the hostages returned home to their families, a lasting bilateral ceasefire, Hamas out of power in Gaza for good." Ed Davey

A collage of six circular photos featuring Alison Bennett MP engaging with various community members in her role as Care and Carers Spokesperson. In the top row, she is seen with care staff, speaking with individuals at a decorated table, and posing with a group including a man with a white cane. In the bottom row, she interacts with people outdoors, holds a sign reading βI WANT A FAIR FUTURE FOR YOUNG CARERSβ alongside others, and speaks with a woman with Sir Ed Davey. In the centre, the text reads: βAlison Bennett MP β Care and Carers Spokespersonβ with the Liberal Democrats logo underneath.
I am honoured to be reappointed Lib Dem spokesperson for Care and Carers.
Carers, both paid and unpaid, are our society's unsung heroes and deserve better. I will continue to fight for them and advocate for a social care system that works for and supports those who need it.
