There is no compulsion to do it. It is neither regulated nor legislated. Those who choose to Acknowledge Country do it out of respect to First Nations peoples. Likewise when they conduct a Welcome to Country it is a mark of respect to those who come to their lands.

And forgive me if your questions are genuinely because you don’t know what a Welcome to Country is and are therefore unaware of the difference between that and an Acknowledgement of Country.

What part is overdone? Whenever I have someone come to my home I welcome them through the front door. It’s a mark of respect to them not a barking of, nor assertion to, my sole claims to a place. I was raised to believe that was the right thing to do.

Exactly, charge the car off the roof during the day and draw down overnight from the car battery.

We are a few years away from having the infrastructure in place to support that. In the meantime I do 95%+ of my EV charging at home and so far this year it’s about $4. In the two years of owning the car, including servicing, total running costs for more than 50,000km have been under $1,000 🙂
