Though Carney repealed the carbon tax, it was a relentless disinformation campaign by conservatives that made the policy political kryptonite. If Poilievre had won, the dismantling of Canada's environmental protections would have been job one.

I'm more cynical about Doug Ford's outburst on unelected judges. Poilievre and his minions, like Jamil Jivani, are trying to paint Ford as a closet Liberal. Ford needed to burnish his con credentials without burning any bridges with the PM. So he put on a little performance to rebalance perception.
