Would quite like the Beeb to release all the dramatisations they have done. I think Toby Stephens is only two short now: You only live twice and The spy who loved me (although the former was done with Michael Jayston 30 years ago)

I was the other poet in the Len Pennie row: here’s my story Sarah Doyle’s poem Laika won high praise but when she queried similarities to it with the poem Good Girl she was caught up in a storm of accusation, denial and online vitriol

The Canongate response to Sarah Doyle re her poem about Laika (another piece in the Sunday Times today) has merely reminded me how badly Canongate treated Dan Rhodes.

I started reading Pym (and Elizabeth Taylor and Penelope Fitzgerald) in the past year and feel an idiot for not reading any of them sooner.

Is that because you have seen Miss Pym's day out with Routledge?

Story goes of course that Southern wrote his novel after chats with Stanley K during Strangelove about a film Stanley wanted to make. I have never been able to view eyes wide shut without having that in mind. On various levels it's a Kubrick joke

I like to think of eyes wide shut as being Kubrick finally responding to the dedication he received from Terry Southern

The Flintstones owned this home on a single salary from a husband with only a high school diploma.

This was considered normal at the time.

I adopt this approach in teaching law and am grateful to Challenge TV and other repeat filled channels plundering the 70s and 80s for extending the lifespan of my references

A govt purely left to civil service would be more successful up here I think.

Aside from the first salmond govt there have been issues in the scottish administration and lack of successful delivery or management of various policy areas (health, education, having particular issues). Their success has been aided by polarisation post ref (and the split on the no side) & poor opp

I'm no pollster, but I would suggest "the dead are rising from the grave" might be a bad indicator for the party in power.

Yes. Much better show than line of duty. A novel next to a comic
