Well, not too long after my prior post, Wobbles went into "Daddy, daddy, love me, love me, pet me, pet me!" again.

But after a few minutes of that she flipped into "kill, maim, hurt, destroy!"

The new wound... Again, don't think she meant to make me bleed, but that was deliberate.

Scott would burst out of cover, dash towards his target then jump straight up in the air in front of them, land, twitch his tail as if to say "I totally could have gotten ya!" and dash off. But he'd never pounce ON the other cats.

Scott was a very good boy.

There's also the thing with older cats where their claws don't retract as well anymore. That happened with my poor Scott. He'd get me occasionally by pure accident.

That, too, but the CH kitty from my prior post is only 18 months old and I'd just put her in my lap. She was just flopping around to get where she wanted to be.

She's an independent girl and wants to do it herself most of the time. Although she has a specific meow which means, "OK, a little help?"

I'm reading this looking at the long scratch across my right palm and down my wrist.

Although the cat who did it has cerebellar hypoplasia (malformed/undersized cerebellum, thus serious movement control issues), and I'm pretty sure it was a total accident. She was trying to adjust on my lap.

Yeah, I've ticked off a friends in similar fashion. Like walking in as a friend is telling my wife the cat hates to be held, me holding the cat on his back, petting his tummy as he purrs madly and kneads the air.

Of course the trick is to put the cat down when it says to.

If nothing else, take a note. You may write an archaic story, or an Irish character. Knowing the "ye" is useful for you as an author.

If speaking with just you, "How are you?" If I'm speaking with (say) you and your wife, "How are ye?"

Without needing the phrase "you all" contracted to "y'all."

The issue being, where many Americans think of Ireland as a bunch of drunks, fighting at the drop of a hat (rather than tech capital of the EU), they view the US through the lens of US pop culture. So they have their own stereotypical views. Irish mock Americans with "y'all." /cont

She absolutely is. To be quite blunt, over this very issue, I've said to her -- and this is a direct quote -- "I consider this a major issue. It makes you untrustworthy, and it makes me think less of you."

My arguments with locals come to where Ireland does better, and avoiding US mistakes.

Which is why I disagree with my wifey on this (plus the base ethical question of lying about one's history to everyone she meets, and dragging me into it as I either back her or contradict her).

I'm aware this is a global battle. We all have to choose our battlegrounds. Mine is Ireland.

it's fucking EMBARRASSING to be American overseas now. My wife (I don't agree with this) has gone so far as to now claim to be Irish born, moved to the US by her parents in youth, to avoid the stigma.

Also the proposed "solution" was to move these failed applicants to a location outside the EU while their deportation was processed - or DEPORTING THEM BEFORE DEPORTING THEM!

And it's gonna be a tough fight. Last Irish election one candidate tried to slur the other for speaking out against bank repossessions while, when working as a lawyer, representing banks.

One can hope the US isn't lost, but the wounds will take generations to heal (basically until the Judges and others MAGA placed die or retire, at least).

I live overseas (dual US/Irish -- EU -- citizenship), and every day I debate renouncing the US one... Except I have US friends/family I'd like to visit, and renouncing US citizenship can lead to a lifetime ban from US entry (except the hyper-rich and famous). /cont

Frankly, I'm relieved to be wrong. Seemed ridiculous to me!

In lossy codecs it's still writing pixel data pushed to the midrange requiring dynamic range expansion in post (needing 10/12 bit for the headroom to stretch for 8 bit delivery). I stand by "flattening," but, again state I may not be "technically correct."
