Internals of the Dahlem №40 pulse pistol. Not exactly realistic(and, I suspect, not exactly sound from an engineering standpoint), but it's a fun design exercise. Highly recommended.

A pulse pistol with a 60+ years of good rep behind the name. Popular with the law enforcement. Also popular with the types usually at odds with the law - what's good for the goose is, after all, good for the gander.

Topology matters little here. Those are all concept meshes - the start of the pipeline.
It has to be converted to low poly before the question of the polybudgets comes up. In gamedev env harsurface meshes get the most ridiculous treatment, it's literally whatever gets through the pipeline faster
Most of the concept meshes I produce can be reused as highpoly with minimal editing/alteration, but not always. Depends on the circumstances, mesh, and pipeline.
