A whole family approach means systems that support everyone.
And Family Inclusive Practice is about more than just having systems in place - it's about:
- Knowledge (What's out there? / What helps?)
- Skills (Good listening / Interventions)
- Attitudes (Openness / Warmth / Compassion)

How do we marry the two points of view - the we need competent compassion in frontline staff AND that we also are not scapegoating frontline staff?

And now some discussions about how Services themselves are 'Cinderella Services' - poor conditions, with broken toilets and lights.
Services themselves suffer from Stigma by Association, all while being blown in the changing winds of policy changes.
Interesting to hear about the concept of Competent Compassion from today's webinar with @anti-stigmanetwork.bsky.social

"If we are competent without being compassionate or compassionate without being competent, then we fail our patient either way."

We often ask the poeple we provide care for about important questions about consent.
We often ask simply- Yes or No?
I think there's a better way of asking about the scale of consent - a way where we encourage people to include family and friends.
Using our 'Layers of Consent Tool'
We are bringing our FREE event, This Fierce Love, to Stranraer.
This Fierce Love is an interactive workshop where we listen to a family member's story of living with problematic alcohol and drug use, discussing and reflecting on what we have heard together.
