I have many labels and descriptions. Held together with neoprene and velcro, often using sticks to walk. Relaxation methods include reading, stabbing, chopping, and throwing.

30.05.2025 09:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You'll get all the usual books, boardgames and cross stitch from me. Welcome aboard
16.02.2025 09:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's the cover of Thread on Arrival by Lea Wait which is the 8th book in the series. Another Nancy Drew/Sweet Valley High for 20-somethings. How the Mainely Needlepointers produce so much work when they're always busy doing other things still amazes me. All I can presume is the cushions and sachets are all very small, or not actually needlepoint, or the author has no idea about the craft. The series is inoffensive (as murder goes) and an easy read.
Book 8 of 2025 is coincidentally book 8 of the Mainely Needlepoint mystery series. I definitely preferred the series before some of the main characters had to get into heteronormal relationships. Yet they still work as a trashy read. More details in the alt text ππ
12.02.2025 10:01 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0It's not an idea I've had before. However I choose chaos
09.02.2025 14:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's the cover of Richard Osman's book We Solve Murders. It features both red and black writing and a red and black picture of a cat, the barrel of a gun and a sun (I think). I've not got any red spaces on my bookopoly board yet so I think this one will go there. As for the book: loved it, I had a few ideas who the mystery characters were and whodunnit. And I was gloriously wrong! It's a rare occasion when I don't spot the obvious patterns and work it out. I read this book as it's this month's Sugar and Sloth book club book. I'll be adding Richard Osman as another author to my wishlist now.
Book 7 for 2025 was my first introduction to @richardosman1.bsky.social as an author. I can only apologise for being late to the party and rectify it by adding all other books to my wishlist. ππ All the rest of my thoughts and details are in the alt text as usual.
09.02.2025 10:04 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The cover of Divine Might: Goddesses in Greek Myth by Natalie Haynes. The cover of my book is orange with a black line drawing of a goddess. However, on Goodreads it's a blue cover with a crouching Goddess in black and white covered in a big red circle with the title on. At times I found the book hard going. I almost abandoned it, but glad I persisted with it. I don't think I'd realised just how violent, vengeful and incestuous the Greek immortals are, and just how sanitised more modern depictions have become from the original stories.
Book six of 2025 read. So the interesting details and my thoughts in the alt text. My version has an orange cover so will be going in as an orange in my bookopoly journal page #BookSky ππ
04.02.2025 15:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A picture of the Sky Team board setup up on the one occasion we successfully landed the plane. Instruments showing the plane is horizontal, landing gear down, brakes on, flaps set correctly and all air traffic cleared for a safe touchdown. I can't remember who recommended Sky Team, it's got lots of playability and has gone on the wishlist. I wouldn't recommend flying Appleton Airlines, we did successfully land in Montreal but only after our first attempt ended with us barrel rolling into the runway. To celebrate we followed our successful landing with a mid-air collision over Heathrow.
Lacuna was a staff recommendation and my initial thought was to screw my nose up at flowers, but she sold the gameplay to me. The pieces are really tactile and I love that the box the game comes in becomes the shaker. The picture shows a black/navy cloth with a pond on that's the playing area. Inside it you scatter the brightly coloured flowers. I totally missed half of the strategy of the game on the first play so best of 3 games went to Mr A who was much better at the strategy from the start. You have 6 metal pawns each and have to claim flowers to win. Simple to get the hang of sand start playing to learn your strategy.
Yesterday's trip to our local BGC we played Sky Team, Katamino, and Lacuna. All the details in the alt text.
Katamino is more of a solo puzzle game and didn't hit the spot for us. I also forgot to take a picture.
That's 5 games played in 2025 so far. ππ²
The September design from @dees20stitches #Stitch4Pride2024 depicting grey-green patterned shark teeth in a row. This pattern celebrates Lehuauakea (they/them) is a mΔhΕ« mixed-Native Hawaiian interdisciplinary artist from PΔpaΚ»ikou on Moku O Keawe, the Big Island of HawaiΚ»i. Their art largely consists of traditional kapa cloth (Κ»ohe kΔpala) that they make and manipulate using traditional and ancestorial knowledge. Lehuauakea's art explores their cultural and environmental spectrum, especially stories of injustice and resilience.
September's section of Dees20Stitches #Stitch4Pride2024 is complete. As always the interesting details are in the alt text for everyone to appreciate
02.02.2025 19:12 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Cross stitch design inspired by Hangama Amiri is an Afghan-Canadian textile artist who commonly uses a variety of found materials to create her quilted and appliquΓ© pieces. Amiriβs work explores identity and gender, especially reflecting the daily lives and often silenced voices of Afghan women. The design has a geometric pattern in blue and depicts a large green leaf and a henna patterned hand.
This is the August pattern from Dees20Stitches #Stitch4Pride2024 stitch along. I finished it tonight.
01.02.2025 20:48 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I really struggled to put this book down. It was a slow start that very quickly became all consuming. It's not often twists and turns are completely unexpected and there were some delightful ones entwined within the story. I hope you enjoy it.
01.02.2025 12:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0January's reading round up showing a calendar with the covers of the books I've read during the month on the days I read them. I started the year finishing The Lost Bookshop so haven't counted it in my 2025 reading challenge. Next up was Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries, Foxglove Summer, Murder by Narwhal, Thread Herrings, What Abigail Did That Summer. I've started Divine Might, as well as listening to Black Bird Oracle so they'll carry on into February. I also read the next chapter of Quiet for book club at work.
January's reading round up. All the details are in the alt text, not just because it is accessible and helps people understand the picture more, but because you can put so much more text in there than the post! ππ #BookSky
01.02.2025 11:38 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1I'm reading that as I'm just planning tonight's stitching doing exactly that π€£
30.01.2025 18:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've done a kit and the SAL and found the amount of thread to be extremely generous and seem to have loads left.
30.01.2025 18:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I used their variegated thread, I bought it back in 2020 (ish)

This is where my stitching tribe is at
I got back into reading regularly by challenging myself to read for 15 minutes a day. After a month I'd upped it to 30 minutes a day and that works for me. Sometimes it's all in one go, other times it's a bit in the morning and at lunchtime
27.01.2025 22:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The book cover of What Abigail Did That Summer by Ben Aaronovitch. It's 5.3 in the Rivers of London series as I'm choosing to read in chronological order rather than publication order as I'm quite behind and enjoying reading through the timeline.
Book 5 of the year. This one has interesting reviews that seemed to depend on whether the reader chose publication or chronological order. I wonder if the reading order is as contentious as the viewing order of Star Wars.
#BookSky ππ #ReadingChallenge #GoodReads #Bookmory
I started What Abigail Did That Summer by Ben Aaronovitch today. It's the next chronologically in the Rivers of London series which I can't get enough of. This one takes place at the same time as Foxglove Summer and focuses on the adventures of Peter's cousin.
25.01.2025 11:49 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Image of the book cover Thread Herrings which is the 7th book in the Mainely Needlepoint series by Lea Wait. For those of us old enough to remember the Sweet Valley High and Sweet Dreams series this series is like those mixed with a Nancy Drew murder mystery for 20 somethings. This one had less of the [unrealistic to me] volume and speed of needlepoint completions and focused the stitching element on an antique embroidery.
Book 4 of the year. Thread Herrings by Lea Wait. My thoughts are too long for the post so I've popped them in with the alt text where there's more space to describe the book for everyone.
#BookSky ππ #ReadingChallenge
I agree. I'm working through the series in chronological order and I'm hoping that the story flows through a bit more into the next ones as there's a lot of unanswered questions. Leslie for one matter. And what Beverley is up to.
22.01.2025 21:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I recently finished Foxglove Summer too, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I quite liked seeing how different it was to London and the impact that had on the regular characters.
22.01.2025 21:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I realised that much like a garden it needs nurturing. I'm slowly finding my people, or they find me in the Craftiverse π§Ά
22.01.2025 02:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Book cover of Murder! By Narwhal! Written by Alex T Smith
Third book of the year read. A great recommendation from friends at work.
Yes, it's a kids book. This one is a great closed room murder mystery that also happens to nail representation and diversity in a nonchalant way. I'm definitely checking out more by this author. ππ

Green fabric with a white and red Die Hard design in the style of a Christmas jumper. I tweaked the wording as the recipient has a child so it says Yippee Ki Yay Motherfudger. My favourite bit is Nakatomi Plaza. There is also a tape measure to demonstrate that the whole thing is only 15cm wide.
I've also finished my first #CrossStitch π§Ά Craftiverse. The pattern is Die Hard is a Christmas Movie from Science& Stitchery on Etsy. It's stitched on evenweave that a friend found at a car boot (the same fabric the llama I did last year). So I made them this as a thank you.

02.12.2024 20:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A calender of November 2024 showing the covers of the books I read on each day. Wereworld by Curtis Jobling, Dangling by a Thread by Lea Wait, Day Shift by Charlaine Harris, a chapter of Quiet by Susan Cain, Tightening the Threads by Lea Wait, Broken Homes by Ben Aaronovitch, Body Works by Ben Aaronovitch and started The Cat Sanctuary by Patrick Gale.
My November reading challenge went well. I read every day smashing the 10 minutes a day target with a total of 19 hours 37 minutes. I've enjoyed swapping the morning and lunchtime doom scrolling and finished 6 books. ππ
