My perhaps controversial assessment is that when you share the propaganda of your enemies to call it out or to mock it… you’re still spreading their propaganda and maybe doing exactly what they hope you’ll do.

Fair enough. I'm just not a big fan of people using their platforms to sell patriotic merchandise, but I understand if others are okay with it.

The only reason I bring it up is because when I see people whose opinions I respect referring to him, I feel they might want to know.

To be clear, this was quite a while ago and he may have changed his views, but the way he handled it felt like he didn't like being called out so he made light of it. He didn't use my name but the Substack post was triggered by our conversation.

While maintaining his jovial schtick, he condescendingly responded along the lines of "That's an interesting opinion," and said since "the cat is out of the bag" with AI we might as well use it. He then proceeded to mock my opinion on his Substack.

I have to say I found his comment that "Canadians generally try to find the best for the group" kind of hypocritical. Back on Xitter, I called him out for using AI, making the arguments that it's trained on stolen work and will take jobs from people. He didn't care.

My son shut off the Jays game almost two hours ago because he has to work in the morning, and I joked maybe they'd still be playing when he gets up. At this rate that might actually happen lol.

How would you describe that worldview? My father told me something when I was very small to instill confidence in me: “Nobody in the world is worth more than you, but nobody’s worth less.” It is an egalitarian view that I’ve carried around in my life. That’s why I am for free schools, free universities, free health care, and free babysitting. Because our society could afford it. In America, people think social democracy is some kind of communism. They think capitalism is freedom. It’s not. It’s only freedom to exploit people.

The lady at the charity shop today told me that she wishes people would clear out their children's old toys in the lead up to Christmas rather than after because she always sees a number of parents in the days before Christmas looking for toys for their little ones who might be strapped for cash. She said there's very rarely anything in just before, but that they get inundated with toys in the days after. And it really made me think about it in a way I never would have before. If you know your child is going to get lots of presents from father Christmas this year, by clearing out your cupboards a few days early you could make another child's Christmas a lot more special too. Saw this & thought I'd repost

Having the freedom to shop/subscribe wherever you want is privilege and many folks have less choice due to financial constraints, disability, location, etc. It can be hard to balance needs with moral preferences, so please try not to judge.
