1/I’m grateful to host Mystic’s Lee Burdette Williams as my guest for the State of the Union. Lee & her wife are paying over 300% more per month in health care costs because President Trump blocked bipartisan efforts to extend health care tax credits.

Today marks four years since Russia launched its full-scale, unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. For four years, the people of Ukraine have bravely defended their homeland. The U.S. must stand by our partners – not throw them under the bus by rewarding Putin for his vicious attack.

You may have heard of the "SAVE Act." It's pitched as an election integrity bill. In reality, it's an unconstitutional intrusion by the federal government into state government’s designated role to conduct elections. It’s all part of Trump's agenda to "nationalize" elections. I will be voting NO.

The housing crisis is driving up costs & cutting people out of home ownership. The number one way to fix this is to build more homes.

The House just passed a bipartisan package of bills to generate new housing construction, prevent homelessness, & bring the dream of homeownership back within reach.

I voted to pass a funding bill that provides full-year funding for 70% of the government except for DHS. In the next 10 days, an attempt will be made to put reforms in place to stop ICE’s lawlessness. I have not & will not support a full-year DHS funding bill without reforms in law to rein in ICE.

Last night, we celebrated 38 graduates of EB’s federally approved apprenticeship programs. With over 3,000 job openings at the Groton shipyard right now, these men & women have met the call to skill-up for long term shipbuilding careers.

The cost of health insurance has exploded for millions of Americans in 2026. A bipartisan coalition in the House successfully passed an extension of ACA tax credits to bring these costs down. There is no excuse for the Senate not to follow suit.

3/Secretary Noem’s so-called “administrative warrant” authorizing DHS agents to enter private homes is flagrantly and brazenly unconstitutional. She is unfit for the powerful position she holds.

2/Momentum is picking up as events in Minnesota have continued to deteriorate because of Secretary Noem's reckless actions and incendiary comments that are escalating tensions and putting the public and local law enforcement at serious risk of harm.

My full statement on the fatal DHS shooting in Minneapolis today.

Today, the House passed a package of funding bills. I voted "no" the DHS bill, which falls far short of reining in Kristi Noem’s ICE. But elsewhere, with bipartisan negotiations, the other bills go a distance to stabilize basic services amid Trump cuts & keep CT’s defense industry growth on track.

Some good news. I worked with our towns and local non-profits to secure federal funding for four local projects focused on public safety, infrastructure, and STEM education. This month, Congress officially passed over $2.6M in funding to make these projects a reality.

At a time when we need to be strengthening alliances, there is absolutely no reason to be threatening Greenland & Denmark’s sovereignty on the basis of national security. Greenland & Denmark provide assistance to our national defense. I’m an original co-sponsor of the No Funds for NATO Invasion Act.

Slapping new tariffs on allies to jam Denmark is not how longtime friends should be treated. Today, Greenland hosts U.S. missile defense with no hesitation. The world is dangerous enough without picking a fight with our partners.

A federal judge has ruled that Revolution Wind can resume work after the Trump Admin's second attempt to halt the project. That means workers on the Revolution Wind project can get back to work & finish the job to power a robust energy grid with cheaper energy for hundreds of thousands of homes.

The American people have sent a message loud & clear that they are struggling with the high cost of living. Now, millions are getting hit with skyrocketing health care costs.

Today, after months of obstruction, the House finally acted to bring these costs down. The Senate & POTUS must follow suit.

The fatal ICE shooting in Minneapolis is appalling. My full statement:

I signed onto a successful discharge petition to force a vote in the House on extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits for three years. After months of obstruction, that vote is finally happening this week.

Congress must bring down the skyrocketing health care costs.

Since their military strikes in Venezuela, no one in the Trump Administration has been able to explain how this ends. One thing is clear, American taxpayers didn't sign up to “reimburse” oil companies for their cost of business. I joined Brian & Co. on WTIC 1080 to discuss.

2/It’s an outrage that the plaque, which Congress voted on to commemorate their service, hasn’t been hung up inside the U.S. Capitol as required by law. The plaque is hanging outside my office. This history should never be whitewashed.
