I'll be honest, I don't know the comics at all, I'm also just into the movies and there is way too much lore for me to catch up on, so hopefully it should be easy enough to follow for other casual fans haha!

And by good script I just mean understanding what the characters are feeling and what the tones of the scenes should be, etc, it matters a LOT. But yeah that is to say, I'm in the exact same boat, it's a mysterious process and I don't know how people do it!!

I spent sooo long this year looking at award winning comics and trying to suss this out and the things I noticed: 1) good script, 2) 200 pages, and 3) design/environment motifs. Good scripts and motifs help lead paneling decisions naturally and high page count keeps you from feeling restricted.

Thank you very much for the tips! I do illustration and commonly prep it for print/production so I was worried csp wouldn’t be able to cover all my bases, so I really appreciate the supplemental software tip! I will check out!

Ohh yeah text might be rough for me. But that’s great if they’ve improved in other areas! I’ll see if I can at least give it a try when I upgrade :)

For real!! App and software design this decade has become inscrutable for me! I know part of it is just getting older, but a lot of it is being tired of learning how to do the same things in new ways, especially ways that are designed to modify my behaviors and not accommodate them.

Yeahhh I’m definitely dealing with that, mine is old as hell but I like how it’s set up and upgrading is gonna mess up my workflow sooo much. But it would be nice to not have to work around its limitations anymore.

Yeahhh I use a wacom currently and it’s been a bit fussy since I got it. I can probably carry over the tablet but I’ve been feeling for awhile I need to try something else. Thank you for the recs!
