Someone set @banditelli.org ‘s gosling-walk clip to music that makes it a next-level community gift:

I’m sorry. I used to attend a church that believed in performing exorcisms; it’s a set of horrific, traumatizing behaviors that come from a dehumanizing, abhorrent premise.

I’m relieved you’re still here.

Urgent community need: @popelizbet.bsky.social ‘s friend Sonia is short $585 to prevent eviction proceedings.

Sonia’s a Black DV survivor who’s working hard to put her life back together, without the safety net some of us were lucky enough to have when we fled violence.

Anything helps. 💜

I'm sorry, friend.

Past me has had similar experiences, and honestly one big reason I quit drinking beyond "social beverage at family holidays" was because I was tired of accidentally making myself sick. (I say "accidentally" b/c it was never my goal at the time.)

This all is something I know basically nothing about but sounds very interesting.

I don't know as much about this as I'd like.

Would you be able to point me to any authors or books you found particularly informative? Protecting the natural world is important to me, and I want to make sure my ideas about conservation aren't poisoned.

In what turned out to be my last Christmas with my dad, he gave me a volume of Mary Oliver's collected poems about dogs.

I felt so seen, and loved, and perfectly in accord with him: about the goodness of poetry, and pups, and the natural world which Oliver wrote about with such devotion.

Thank you. <3

It took me until this morning to realize that the nausea I've been dealing with was connected to the stuffiness and itchy eyes—we hit temps in the 80s earlier this week, and the pollen snuck up on me.

She looks so displeased! I'm familiar with the Face of Refusal (and the whole posture) from my own Pyr's weird areas of pickiness, and always find it funny.

Needed this reminder today. 💜🦇

…oh my god.

That’s nauseatingly blatant.

Ooh, I’m very curious about this story!

💖 That is genuinely precious and I’m really glad you two found each other.

—Oof.

I’m sorry; that must’ve been an awful way to learn.

I either didn’t recall or know that, though I’ve seen you reference (iirc?) Five Iron Frenzy, and I knew you were another person who’d spent time inside that world.

I’m glad you got out, and, since you love music, I’m glad it’s part of what helped you along.

—I had briefly forgotten, but the article I read about it made me feel really ill. And feel worse because I was surprised.

Charloh, I truly hadn’t imagined that the Xtian music industry was that level of blatantly corrupt. Should’ve known better.

*I moved significantly leftward along the continuum before leaving/escaping fully.

So my comment is very much coming from having inhabited such mindsets myself, where it’s super easy to be oblivious to how much one’s religious worldview colors everything, ever.

I’m not sure I trust someone with “Jesus freak” in her bio to be good at media literacy and causal analysis.

Even on the progressive end of evangelical types of Christianity*, one buys into a worldview that demands putting aside certain types of critical thought.

Reading this did my heart so much good.

I was horribly scared of the dark as a kid, and I love that someone gave your son a (multipurpose!) tool that takes some of the edge off.

I don’t watch horror, but I don’t passionately dislike it (except the torture-porn stuff, but that’s a well-reasoned moral/ethical dislike).

I’m just a weenie who doesn’t like being scared, and I have no tolerance for gore.

This bums me out, because a lot of people I think are neat DO like horror.

I hope you can get the rest you need soon.
And I’m sorry you have no amaretto gelato; that sounds really good.

Almost all sitcoms.

A great deal of prestige TV.

Pretty much every movie ever that exists to make the viewer feel smart.

(The trend for) SFF short stories where everything is so innovative and stylistically interesting and no one is allowed to be happy, we are only here for Sad Times, Bad Times.

Yeah, it gets frustrating when every track relies on weird typesetting.

Just give me song names I can bring up in conversation!

07.03.2026 07:59 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

It’s incredibly boring and drawn out.

When Aimee Mann covers “The Scientist,” I believe it’s about someone genuinely mourning a broken connection.

When Coldplay performs it, I don’t care, and don’t believe they do, either.

I have been surprised to occasionally hear a cover of a Coldplay song and like it.

Both times this happened, it was because the cover artist put their own musicianship and sincere emotion into lyrics and melody that felt flat when I heard the originals.
