Meet the Halens, an elite aristocratic family that rules over the Peak with a velvet fist. Pria Halen sits on the high council, while Kora and Chiro Halen throw parties and entertain diplomats. They might also do some crime, who knows.

Meet Spire, a stressed-out grad student who, along with their thesis advisor, has invented a piece of tech that could completely rewrite the history of Zé, clearing the fetid atmosphere and shifting the delicate balance of power.

That makes them a celebrity. And a target.

Zé is a planet shrouded in a thick, choking fog. The Peakborn live above it all, staring down from their mansions. The Sunken live in the fetid Haze, their lives shortened by exposure to the toxic atmosphere. The Unmoored travel between the Peaks and the Haze, living lives of nomadic trade.
