The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil (Mon Mothma, Andor). The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common (Adam Serwer). Sh*tposts and takes on politics, movies, culture, whatever.

I think most people rely on the β€œno logs” policy which seems accurate?

Yeah i don’t endorse the whole thing either.

Yeah, I agree. A big problem for AI is it’s useful for many parts of a workflow but not the entirety of it and breaking up your flow just creates more work not less.

I say allegedly because the only link I can find isn’t from Anthropic. So either private distribution or somebody’s having fun with us.

Anthropic allegedly produced this and it’s useful because it shows 1) the gap between AI promise and reality is huge, 2) AI can’t actually automate everything in a given field, and 3) it’s actually most useful for coding compared to anything else.

Can’t believe the President is playing New Vegas and is acquiring an equally negative reputation among all factions. You’re not supposed to be able to do that.

Real class of galaxy brain commenters who don't understand what a fucking war is. There's no magic switch to stop angry Iranians and their proxies. They just will for a long time. And taking out senior leadership makes an enforceable surrender harder!

As I was saying, gonna be very hard to avoid boots on the ground in a war.

The nofap/porn addiction thing is largely purity culture for Gen Z - with small exceptions for people who have actual sexual addiction disorders. Most of this stuff will just make its adherents less happy, not more.

Small brain: AI will replace human labor costing thousands of jobs
Galaxy brain: AI capex will be so huge companies will fire people to keep it going, costing thousands of jobs

Incredible because Mullin will find an entirely different way to screw up the job.

05.03.2026 18:44 β€” πŸ‘ 38    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

Yup. Texas Hispanics are way more conservative than NYC Hispanics even accounting for ethnic differences etc.

05.03.2026 15:33 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Mamdani didn’t handily win Hispanics or white folks in the primary. Those demographics were pretty split, seems likely that Talarico won Hispanics handily and did well with white voters. Mamdani’s coalition was more diverse because NYC is more diverse than Texas as a whole.

05.03.2026 15:30 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Talarico is trying to be a crossover candidate and the way you do that is by making people who aren’t in the base feel welcome. In Texas that probably rules out shouting β€œI hate conservatives.”

05.03.2026 15:26 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Also kinda funny but Talarico got like double Mamdani’s vote total in the primary by virtue of Texas being a massive state.

Austin is just Brooklyn in Texas!

05.03.2026 15:17 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The Talarico vs Mamdani comparisons are a little off. Talarico’s coalition was much whiter and Hispanic because Texas is.

Yes and I don’t pretend this is easy or sensible.

Flown in from Iraq maybe? I agree they haven’t thought this through at all.

We’ve had a couple downed pilots. What if the IRGC decides to hold one as a hostage? Do we play that game or send someone to get him out? They are apparently already contemplating Special Forces on the ground.

I’ve often accused Bush era Republicans of just wanting a war that looks badass on TV and this is just more of that.

Yeah the difference between actionable technical insights from now vs. like a year ago is pretty impressive.
