19.02.2026 22:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They sploot to cool down, and it's getting warmer, so maybe they sploot more often these days? I don't remember my childhood dogs splooting.
02.02.2026 18:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1If I was likely to use two or three eggs next time I reached for the box, then 5 or 6. If I was likely to only use one egg, then 7 or 8. 16.01.2026 17:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Firstly, very excited to read this. And secondly, thanks for recommending Alan Furst in the Locus interview, best new (to me) writer discovery of the year! Hope you have a most excellent Christmas!

28.11.2025 16:54 β π 59 π 23 π¬ 12 π 3I finished this just the other evening, so good, so weird, I wish this wasn't their only novel!

11.11.2025 14:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Absolutely. Also, Inventing the Renaissance is an awesome read!
25.10.2025 20:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I not so long ago read Fridtjof Nansen's Farthest North, and felt much the same

12.08.2025 14:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I once threw a roach out of a 3rd floor window, and it *hovered* and stared at me before buzzing off & returning the next day with 5 of its mates.
12.08.2025 13:48 β π 12 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0I think it has something to do with arches, where the column starts to veer from the vertical towards the apex?

24.07.2025 20:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was! Instapaper is a pretty great replacement if you're looking for one
23.05.2025 08:55 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Do you ever impulsively long press an unfamiliar word to get the definition, and then have a moment of puzzlement before realising you're reading on paper?
17.05.2025 17:27 β π 18 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0There's a Vietnam memoir of a C-130 pilot called, IIRC, One Trip Too Many, which might help.
