A close-up of a green frog partially submerged in water, with a dark brown butterfly delicately perched on its head. White text reads: "Read the Global Wetland Outlook 2025." A quote beside the frog highlights the urgent need to value, conserve, restore, and finance wetlands to secure life on Earth. The logo "Wet Horizons" appears at the bottom.
Wetlands are vanishing and with them, the ecosystems that keep us alive. Protecting wetlands is essential!
The Global wetland Outlook 2025 by @ramsar.org is clear:
π Stop the loss
π° Fund conservation/restoration
π Value wetlands

Ramsar Site 482 supports over 1% of the global population of key waterbirds like the red-necked stint & fairy tern. Thatβs a big deal in conservation terms and a key reason itβs a globally recognised wetlands. Protecting it means protecting birds across the world. @ramsar.orgπ fb.com/wetlandscop15

On selection criteria for a new @ramsar.org Secretary General, #RamsarCOP15 delegates remained divided on whether merit should be the primary criterion, with gender or regionality a secondary vs. equal consideration. #WetlandsForOurCommonFuture Photo: Ramsar Convention on Wetlands

Women of the Wetlands - UNDP Nature
At the break of dawn, the river stirs to life.Boats cut through the water, fishing nets are unspooled, and voices murmur over the steady rhythm of daily labour.
From peatlands to mangroves, wetlands are vital for biodiversity, climate stability and human livelihoods.
@Ramsar.org's #WetlandsCOP15 is spotlighting the urgent need to protect them.

π± Migratory birds, wetlands and humans are all part of a delicate, interconnected ecosystem. The rich biodiversity supported by wetlands shapes natural systems and plays a vital role in sustaining the health of our planet.

Wetlands are the wellspring of biodiversity. Yet they are declining at an alarming rate.
#WetlandsCOP15 in Victoria Falls, an amazing wetland sanctuary, inspires us to work harder through a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to achieve common goals.
