Society for Conservation Biology – Europe Region will hold the Annual Members' Meeting on January 23rd 12:00–13:00 CET.

Issue: Extensive time away excludes those with caring duties.
Example: Parents of young children can't work outside daycare hours.
Ways forward: plan early, prioritize nearby sites, schedule fieldwork within standard working hours, assign suitable tasks for those who cannot travel extensively.
Issue: Needs of neurodivergent fieldworkers are overlooked.
Example: ADHD medication required by a participant banned in destination country.
Ways forward: plan fieldwork well in advance & share plans with all participants, adjust conditions to support neurodiversity without requiring disclosure.
How can we make conservation fieldwork more inclusive and just?
New document by the SCB Europe's DEIJ Committee summarizes key barriers to participation and practical, evidence-based actions and ways forward. See a couple of examples below.
