I recently spoke with our inaugural MBK Alliance Ambassadors – a group of talented, inspiring young leaders from across the country who are working to give back to their communities. I’m looking forward to following their progress and having them back as alumni to share what they’ve learned.

More than 16 million Americans are at risk of losing their health care because Republicans in Congress are rushing to pass a bill that would cut federal funding for Medicaid and weaken the Affordable Care Act.

Progress in this country is never guaranteed. But that week, it felt like the efforts of so many, across generations, was bending the arc of the moral universe a little more towards justice. I sat down with Garrison Hayes to talk about that day, and what it can teach us about how change happens.

It was a week that reasserted our freedoms. The freedom from fear that random illness or accident could cost us everything. The freedom to marry who we love. The freedom intrinsic to a people who, even when we lose our way, are never bound to the past—but rather precisely because we can change.

And that same afternoon, a congregation in Charleston, still reeling from a horrifying act of racial violence but fortified by the extraordinary courage of ordinary friends and neighbors, led the country in a chorus of Amazing Grace.

That's exactly what happened in a remarkable sprint of history ten years ago this week.

The Supreme Court upheld a critical part of the Affordable Care Act. A day later, it recognized a Constitutional right to marriage equality.

Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family. Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace. We pray for a fast and full recovery.

Alabama intentionally discriminated against Black voters in Congressional redistricting, judges rule The court-ordered map, used in the 2024 elections, resulted in Alabama electing two Black representatives to Congress for the first time in history.

Thanks to the advocacy of Black Alabamians and organizations like @allontheline.bsky.social, Black voters in Alabama will continue voting in fair congressional districts that allow them to elect candidates of their choice. This is a win for Alabama, and proof that progress is possible.

To everyone celebrating today, Michelle and I hope you have a blessed and happy Easter.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.
