Seeing as they won't do anything to let it trickle down, it is about time to break the dam.

There was a time, 6 years ago, when I thought The Rock might not be a terrible choice. He had broad appeal, seemed reasonably thoughtful and sensible, and that he might be able to shrink the divide. Now, I hope he stays out. People need to grow the fuck up, and President Rock is adolescent bullshit.

He might resent her in the moment, but if he collects himself and starts to hold up his side of things, he will ultimately feel better about himself and take pride in the fact that he’s on equal footing with her.

There is nothing in the article that indicates that he hated Kirk because "Kirk wasn't conservative enough."

There's nothing saying he was radically left-wing either.

I don't think anybody should make statement about the politics of the shooter to fit their narrative until his politics are clear.

Absolutely! Sixth Sense has its twist and it’s a good film, but Stir of Echoes sticks with me a lot longer.

Well, the both have a "pro child killing" agenda. At least Freddy is up front about it!

2024 In Review: Let's Talk About My Favorite Scene in The Substance How one scene left me sobbing in the theater

Thought I'd share this article again where I wrote about my favorite scene from THE SUBSTANCE. I finally rewatched the movie again in June & it hit me just as hard then as it did the first time:

Wonderful article! That is the scene that makes the movie for me. I love the rest of it, but that scene hits so hard. It gets me tearing up too. And the fact that it is juxtaposed with so much camp and body horror, makes it all the more powerful.

It’s not mature, but it would be so easy for her to gaslight this guy into dumping her. “I can’t believe you didn’t come to my party. It was so selfish of you to choose your kids over my important tradition. I guess my house isn’t good enough for your kids…”

Zombie was asked to remake one of the most iconic, beloved, and greatest horror movies of all time. It was a nearly impossible task. While there are several choices that I don’t care for, it was a really good remake. I strongly dislike his sequel, but this one rose to the challenge.

When my daughter was 2, I bought her a baby gorilla suit and I made an Empire State Building costume for myself. It was for a costume contest. We didn’t win, but it was cute.

True story: Last time I went to church willingly (for Xmas), the priest used the JOY acronym for his sermon. While he was talking, an old woman keeled over in the pew. People rushed to help her, someone called 911. He kept talking. Maybe he thought he was putting Jesus first, but come on man, WWJD?

I didn’t ask for “proof.” I asked to hear the reason for the anger over the logo change. You provided one. I accepted it, repeated it back, and asked you to correct any misconceptions I had about your answer. You have not done that because you won’t or can’t, but your responses still tell me a lot.

I must be the exception to the rule. I definitely sleep better alone. But I have major sleep issues and very small things can keep me awake.

That's why I find this interesting. I assume they feel like they are losing something in this, but I want to know what they think they're losing. I assume it speaks to some broader deeply set anxiety, so they call this boogeyman "woke." Yet they can't/won't articulate how the logo change is woke.

You insisted the reason was "they liked the logo" & implied that I was stupid/intolerant for not accepting it. If that is indeed the ONLY reason, it's shallow & trivial. If I drew the wrong conclusion, correct me. I asked because I want to see this from a conservative POV. I'm not looking to judge.

I don’t want to just assume those reasons. I want to know why this provokes such a strong reaction. I think if people on the left understood what they think they are losing we would understand their mindset and motivations in a different way and maybe some inroads could be made.

But bees, right or wrong, think they’re defending their hive. What’s being defended regarding the CB logo? Is CB a symbol of white culture so any change to it is blasphemous? Is the removal of the guy an attempt to attract clientele who hate white people so much that a logo of one keeps them away?

Doesn’t matter how many great horror movies get made, doesn’t matter how many times they’ve saved the theatrical movie business since Covid…the genre still can’t get any respect. The “it’s not a horror movie” crowd is always there. This includes filmmakers who can’t admit they made a horror movie.

No, I can accept it, I just assumed it the reason was more profound.

To clarify, it seems like you are saying conservatives so shallow and easily triggered that they will tear down a business that they “like” because of a logo change.

If that’s all it is, that in and of itself is revealing.

I’m not judging or acting superior, I don’t understand why people are so upset, and I want to.

I get that people liked the logo, but it can’t possibly be so sacred that people would stop eating there just because it changed. What is it about the guy and the barrel that people care so much about?

I get all of that. But a lot of that is the motivation of the political-business machine. I want to know why Joe-Average got upset. Even if the talking heads were mad about it,” it still speaks to some deeper perceived truth for them. That’s what I want to know.

If so, I want to know:

If CB was already doing all that stuff, I assume conservatives would have already shunned it. Why did the logo change result in the outcry? Why care about the logo of a business that supports liberal causes if you’re not going to eat there anyway?

Yeah, it can be everything the article described it as and still be a horror movie.

I am heavily biased in favor of the genre, but you have to be pretty pompous to watch a blood spurting vampire movie and say it isn’t horror because the vampires are allegorical. No shit, dude! The monster often is.

I still can’t comprehend why this upset them so much. I don’t get it at all, but out of morbid curiosity, I want to understand. Why was this SO offensive to them?

I feel like if they could explain the reasoning behind their response, it would be a microcosm of their psyches and would reveal a lot.

Yeah, it’s beyond wrong that we are supposed to feel bad for the murderous cannibal family. For the most part, I’m not pro vigilante justice, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep over the deaths of the sick fucks from the first film.

Oh, for sure he wouldn’t. “So selfish that if he was bitten in a zombie apocalypse he would endanger the whole group for a few more minutes of life,” is the perfect way to describe him.
