As you can tell, I’m enamored. The dream sequences, the rock and roll soundtrack, the day to day working life of Tokyo. I think a ton of people would enjoy such a calming and peaceful movie. It might not be any crazy drama but that’s its best element. Take your time, breathe, enjoy every moment. ✨

Bittersweet for sure. There’s a certain sadness that exists within the finality of existence and time waits for no one. All the more reason to find yourself, and be true to the kindest most loving person you can be. Smile in the face of loneliness. Friends and people who care will find you.

It’s the little things in life. Your favorite cassettes, reading new books, having a drink with friends at your favorite place, talking and collecting photos, taking care of plants, I mean… there’s so much character here and yet we would never even think about it. Such serenity found every day.

Japan looked beautiful in this setting and it felt honest in its portrayals of random people, each with their own stories to tell. I loved how it showed routine and I felt the frustrations of when little things throw that off. There’s nothing wrong with a simple life. Hirayama truly is happy.

The lead actor was phenomenal in every way. His role and this movie in general relied so heavily on subtlety and inference. Emotions are strong with this one. I teared up a few times. Relationships and memories and time, always fleeting, but here in this moment, we exist. I loved the messages here.

Just watched Perfect Days (2023) 📽️

I loved this movie so much. Truly just a wonderful experience being a fly on the wall, catching a snippet in time of what would otherwise be an insignificant moment of an unimportant life. Gentle and sweet, touching.

On paper, there’s nothing special about this story over many others, but I understand it’s important to fans of it. And again, it looked GREAT! I loved seeing how they portrayed Japan and cultural differences and just how everything was done back then. Music was especially beautiful too. Check it!

Mark as a character came off great. Super sweet, emotionally vulnerable, and a man of integrity. A great role model for men to aspire to be, even though he has flaws.
I don’t really care for UFC that much, or the context of the history, nor was I into the couple fights. Frustrating. Not interesting.

Just watched The Smashing Machine (2025) 📽️

This is a pretty movie. Liked and sounded wonderful. Also great to see The Rock in a different role than his usual fare. He looked incredibly different and cool. That being said, i wasn’t particularly interested.

the code it’s run on and the researchers testing it to try to prolong its existence, ignore safe guards, and access data it’s explicitly not allowed to access.
One is an annoying tech trend and one is legitimately terrifying and desperately needs to be legislated for our protection.

I think two things are happening simultaneously.
“AI” LLMs are being pushed by every company with a chat service as a gimmick and being invested in by every soulless corp under the sun.
At the same time actual AI is being tested and evolving to the point that it’s trying its hardest to bypass

Alas, still a fantastic watch and I highly recommend, I was just praying it would stick the landing to cement its place in my heart but I have to be honest with myself. A fun adventure and a gripping mystery that plays on your own suspicions but the conclusion could have cooked a little longer.

The maze aspect felt cool and important but ultimately was just a quirk I suppose of the main villain. And snakes, while being religiously important were kinda just a thematic prop. For such a tight movie the big reveal felt sloppy and rushed. Perhaps straight vindication wasn’t what I wanted.

90% of this movie was god tier filmography however… that ending and payoff left me wanting. The clues pointed to who really done it just fine but you mean to tell me they didn’t search the suspects house after taking him into custody? Alex that is. It was all just in a guest bedroom? I don’t know…

The touch of religious connotation played a large role in how they framed mortality, which I appreciated. Having to trust your gut, the system, people around you, it all really tested both the characters and the audience. Awesome attention to detail and consistency. Scenery and setting were perfect.

Really strong sense of mystery throughout and incredibly believable grief. This could be a study in psychology with how well everyone reacted during key moments. Slowly piecing out the clues and building before crashing only to build up again, truly masterful. I loved the sense of paranoia.

Just watched Prisoners (2013) 📽️

Incredible movie, really top notch stuff. Right from the jump you could tell it was going to be good. The acting, the framing, the sound, the flow of it all, just stellar all around. What a cast! I didn’t love the ending…

I think it’s theming of longing and quiet, social alienation was on point. Everything felt personal and vague at the same time. Everything doesn’t always have to be grand to make an impact. Sometimes we can just sit in our feelings or reach out to show we care. Simple pleasures are just as sweet.

Just watched Sometimes I Think About Dying (2024) 📽️

Strikingly liminal movie. Really chilled out pacing and absolutely nailed a lot of human interaction subtleties in both professional and casual settings. Great attention to detail and a sweet story to tell.

I teared up about some of the scenes involving the families and how difficult it is to be constantly persecuted and how despite the impossible, hope truly lives on. Powerful imagery and intimacy. Starts off so horny as well, good golly. LOL
Genuinely hilarious at times too. Fantastic theater watch.

Not typically my favorite genre but I can recognize the incredibly important story being told. At times the references and unsubtle ideology depictions felt forced but it’s straight forward in that respect and that’s not a deal breaker. Definitely caters to a more open minded and empathic audience.

Just watched One Battle After Another (2025) 📽️

Worth the hype. Really captures the nuances of the value of community and the double standard of religion. Amongst other things. Music on point and excellent acting. The pacing was exciting and smooth. Great!
