Detached parts of Shropshire - Wikipedia

West Mids. Historically the city itself was Warwickshire but grew to absorb parts of Staffs and Worcs.

If you head out into the Black Country, there were even exclaves of Shropshire - covering places like Oldbury, Warley and Halesowen

The same billionaire dictators that deliberately encourage British people to move to their tax havens so they don’t have to fund defence and public services at home think *we’ve* let them down, ladsβ€¦πŸ˜‚

This perfectly illustrates my point that the British tabloids are aiming at a US audience. There like 5 people in the UK who think about this. But it is huge among US evangelicals.

British politicians need to ignore UK tabloids, as UK tabloids are talking to an audience in the US for clicks.

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

β€œWe cannot say that the United States’ actions are against international law, but we condemn Iran’s retaliatory actions as against international law,” is neither a coherent nor a compelling position.

Labour doesn't have the cover of claiming their hostile policies are "what the public want" now. All they have is just straight up admitting that they want to push hostile, dehumanising, policies which harm marginalised community and undermine the country. It's a choice they have made. 2/

The Great Heck memorial garden with a GNER train passing behind

Today we remember the 10 people who died in the Selby rail crash at Great Heck, 25 years ago on 28 February 2001.

Six passengers and four railwaymen lost their lives in this tragedy and 80 people were seriously injured.

Today railway colleagues will be gathering in Newcastle and Selby to remember

Always notice the double row of metal studs on the approach to this crossing - apparently a relic from ye olde days before zig zags were 'invented' in the 80s (?). Surprised they still survive, in such a busy location - can't say I've noticed any others around @showmeasign.online

Also, when has any urban traffic report asked the more important question of whether cyclists' and pedestrians' journeys are longer than they could be, to accommodate the wants of motorists

In 1992 when Labour introduced its front bench as "the NEXT ...", they went on to massively lose the election a week later having been eviscerated by the media.

Reform do the same stunt and the media are queuing up to give them a good tromboning.

The media wants a far right fash dystopia, y'see.

This is a serious and worrying failure by media - Reform need to be pressed on the core legal and moral issues at stake here

We've had questions from three broadcasters so far, and they have all been about the practicalities and costs. None has asked about the legal/moral issue of retrospectively changing laws so huge numbers of people who have made their lives in the UK will be expelled.

If I was PM I'd immediately fix the Equality Act by:

- Massively weakening what is covered by "belief" under religion and belief

- Enshrine that any views and beliefs that discriminate against any of the protected characteristics cannot be seen as "worthy of respect" by default

LEAVING A MOTORWAY: This early 70s PIF is possibly the only one I can think of where a near miss with another car results in a happy ending for someone: the van driver looks well pleased that his shaken passengers have finally stopped singing. Bloody hippies, etc etc.

We just gave up on maintaining infrastructure in the 90s and never really got back to it. The backlog of critical infrastructure getting ever more hazardous is a chronic threat now.

Your council tax going up and your council services getting worse is not your local council's fault. Central government funding has been slashed so their overall money has plummeted. They're just offloading the outrage on to local officials.

BBC strikes again! At least 3/4 of the article dedicated to people complaining. I know it's a bit of a stretch to blame the media for high construction costs, but I genuinely believe they should bear some responsibility, with their hostile reporting and giving excessive copy to opponents. 1/2
