In Zapata Talarico got 2,600 votes and the GOP winner got 95. Trump won that county in 2020 and 2024.

This is a good data point. There were 2,689 votes cast in Zapata County in the Democratic primary yesterday.

1,877 voted for Harris.
1,826 voted for Biden.
2,063 vote for Clinton.
2,527 voted for Obama.

Suggests GOP may have peaked in rural Texas. But election won't be decided in rurals.

Considering how egregious the election fuckery was in Texas yesterday—and the fact that Republicans spent well more than double what Democrats spent on these races—it should be even more terrifying to Trump and the GOP that Democrats actually set voter turnout records in the state. Roughly 2.3 million Dems voted in the primary compared to 2.1 million Republicans, which is the first time since 2002 that they’ve outvoted the GOP in a midterm primary in Texas. Even with the Texas GOP’s trademark election fuckery, the Democratic voter response should have Republicans more than a little nervous.
