Tinnitus sufferers! I read that iron deficiency can cause it, and it turned out mine was super low. Iron supplements, to my entire shock, seem to be alleviating my tinnitus. It's probably like half as loud in there.

Blue watercolor background with a black and white photo of Judy Heumann – a white woman with glasses talking into a microphone, wearing a sticker that says “Sign 504” – in the bottom right corner. Text at the top reads: Remembering Judy Heumann. In a blue box, white text reads: “Some people say that what I did changed the world. But really, I simply refused to accept what I was told about who I could be. And I was willing to make a fuss about it.” Text below reads: On this day in 2023, we lost Judy Heumann, a pioneering disability rights activist. Her legacy – from the 504 sit-in to her work to pass other legislation like the ADA – is one that we look to and continue to learn from.

This is also true if all of the developmental norms that pediatricians, clinicians, and schools use for what we call "criterion referenced" measurements.
It's all VERY MUCH much white-dominant and often classist as well.

So, I ended up focused on these questions quite often over recent decades....
Were you able to hold any gratitude today?
What are you doing to tend your own needs?
What are you doing to fight against fascism?
How much overlap of these pursuits might produce improved efficiencies and outcomes?

A winter floodplain landscape with dried grasses, bushes, and bare cottonwood trees.
I find great benefit through sitting in places like this, at any time of year, in any weather. I build relationships with my favorite sit spots, and keep returning to watch and listen.

5 CHRONIC ILLNESS FACTS
Below the title, five rounded purple text bubbles contain the following statements:
Speaking about our chronic illnesses online doesn't make us attention seekers
Just because we’re having a day out, it doesn’t mean we are symptom-free
No one fully understands chronic illness unless they get one themselves
We don’t want to be told that we can do anything if we put our minds into it, sometimes we want to know that what we are doing is enough
We often feel guilty for resting

The most worrying thing about billionaires calling the rest of humanity “resource depletion” so publicly and advocating robots are better than humans as far as resources go is that they are justifying their reasoning to get rid of the rest of us.

I was overjoyed when I saw remote work open up to folks like me. The recent trend of the lock out of disabled people from work (and a further attempt at public life) enrages me.
I should be able to make a living.

DoJ cases against protesters keep collapsing as officers’ lies are exposed in court
String of embarrassing defeats for prosecutors as experts condemn DoJ effort to cast people as ‘violent perpetrators’
"In Chicago, of 92 people arrested for assaulting or impeding officers last fall, 74 cases have resulted in no charges; in 13 cases, charges were filed and dismissed; and five charged cases were still pending *** As of the end of January, there have been no convictions."

We'd need to open consideration to actually begin openly addressing the root causes of those "disorders". We'd need to invite divergent ways of being into popular definitions of human-hood.
We'd need to stop blindly turning away and hiding in bypassing.

Acknowledging this would leave room for consideration outside of pathologising the behavior.
It is quite obviously not a sure path into a profit center (e.g. criminalization and treatment centers focused on cannabis), so why report on it...?

"I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it is for or against".

We should expect autism as a natural way of being *before diagnosis*. As a culture, we should expect a number of children every single generation will be Autistic! Social structures should be prepared for that.
Identification is currently a retrospective exercise cuz of its dependence on diagnosis.

How do autistic people age — and what does it mean for their health?
Most research on autism focuses on younger people, but some studies suggest older adults face increased risks — and perhaps benefits.
More handy new research thoughts. Nature has this report on #AutisticElders and how we know just about nothing about our lives, from the research so far.
www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Very good to see various teams trying to correct this, given the health conditions that may affect us, etc.

I am very sad some folks I adore are not getting that voting for capatalists in a fascist system wont fix the fascism.
Mutual aid and community care is the only way through. Theres no special white people shortcut. The systems are working to oppress as intended.
