In the morning, the mud was the shape of our bodies, and the water rubbing against the shore was the sound of us breathing our names into the shale.

The sweet joy of untangling. I am very acquainted. There are some beautiful poems in those tangents you find at the crossroads of a piece. Usually not what you’re looking for but just what you need.
I can’t say I’ve ever started from a title! I should probably challenge myself one of these days.
Guess I shouldn’t be very surprised, after a few days of seeing it everywhere, that the anglerfish story inspired a new poem. Not altogether unhappy with it, so I’ll call that a win.
