SF has growing pains for sure, but her heart is still good. You know she got into this awkward position from trying to help vulnerable humans. Unfortunately she’s just one city and got overwhelmed by the people in need. SF will find her balance again and we’ll all be the better for it.

there was a time when my love for the city of san francisco was pure and unshakeable, and these days it's like watching an ex who has made a series of successively worse decisions (disclaimer, I am not deep in the weeds on current politics there, just reacting to things like this)

This was a Phil Lesh fundraiser for avant garde musicians

A star cluster is shown inside a large nebula of many-coloured gas and dust. The material forms dark ridges and peaks of gas and dust surrounding the cluster, lit on the inner side, while layers of diffuse, translucent clouds blanket over them. Around and within the gas, a huge number of distant galaxies can be seen, some quite large, as well as a few stars nearer to us which are very large and bright.

Mountain-like structures of gas and dust jut upwards into space. Mostly brown with glowing orange regions, these structures narrow as they grow taller, with jets of gas seen at their tips. The nebulous background of space glows in shades of blue and violet, with a few pink stars scattered throughout.

it’s such a beautiful thing that we as humans can see things like this in space thanks to machines we made on earth
