This collar-ringed European White-fronted Goose (T7Z) was ringed in Netherlands in Nov 2024 and had previously been reported at 2 other sites in Netherlands before turning up on #SKilda today. Reported to cr-birding.org. Incredible what we can learn about birds' movements from ringing projects!

OK Tom, cheers. Interesting that the Ross's switched companions - it was feeding in the midst of the Pinks in that field when I was there. The Am. Goldie was on Banks for maybe an hour from c 1030 on the rising tide, it came in with Greys, Knot and Dunlin and left with them too.

I haven't got any pics Stuart, unfortunately. Aye, the 2nd bird may well be have been 'mank', I couldn't tell for sure, but the other was fine.

Ross's Goose and 1+ Todd's Canada in fields here with Pinkfeet at 1320 (1+ Todd's because there might have been 2... I couldn't nail the 2nd bird as in a hurry to get to work - I only pulled in cos I saw the Ross's through the roadside hedge!) @stuartsbirding.bsky.social #UKbirding

Press Release: Staggering Recovery of Plants and Seabirds on Marshallese Islands Just One Year After Rat Removal - Island Conservation Astonishing results from our work to restore sites in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, boosting climate resilience and ocean health!

"After only one year, the transformation is dramatic. A colony of 2000 Sooty Terns, where there was previously none, were feeding hundreds of chicks. We also counted 1000’s of native Pisonia grandis tree seedlings across just 60 12m monitored plots on the forest floorβ€”in 2024 we found zero." 🌏

β€˜This is real progress’: airlines on sustainable aviation fuels and the chances of net zero flying The EU and UK have imposed mandates, and investors see its value – but the industry has mixed views

Smoke and mirrors drivel

There is no such thing as sustainable aviation fuel

We need a prohibative levy on the minority that flies for fun every other weekend

No new airport expansion and a ban on private jets

And train not plane for domestic travel

Earthshot prize: Prince William to travel to Brazil for awards ceremony Fifteen projects are shortlisted for a chance of winning the top Β£1m prizes at next month's environmental awards ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.

Hypocrite. And this constant, steady stream of fawning BBC articles about the royals is nauseating. Strange they no longer publicise his annual grouse shooting trip to Northumberland with son George. Doesn't quite fit the narrative, eh? The times they are a changing.

UK will leave ECHR if Tories win election, Badenoch says The European Convention on Human Rights has become a focal point in debates around changing immigration policy.

The Convention on Human Rights is one of the greatest achievements of European civilisation following one of its greatest tragedies. To join Russia in leaving it would be one of the biggest acts of national self-sabotage in history and have zero positive consequences www.bbc.com/news/article...

Not to make light of the editorial failure, but look how far Twitter lies now permeate in to normal discourse. We think we know about the racism but the utter contempt for truth since Musk bought the platform is deliberate & very dangerous. You can’t foment racism with fact checkers in the building.

BrewDog sells Scottish β€˜rewilding’ estate it bought only five years ago Latest disposal by β€˜punk’ beer company follows Β£37m loss and closure of 10 pubs

Good to see this example of totally phoney 'rewilding' ignominiously end.

Going by all I've heard, it was a farce, and did nothing but bring the word rewilding into disrepute.

Living in a Skulkers' Paradise When I was younger I often dreamed of living on the Norfolk coast, with Pink-footed Geese flying over my house in the pale and watery morning light, and seeing the occasional rare bird nearby. When I ...

By far the most surprising aspect of my birding in east Norfolk is the number of Radde’s & Dusky Warblers that have occurred very close to home. Astonishing really.
