Global economy must stop pandering to β€˜frivolous desires of ultra-rich’, says UN expert Olivier De Schutter says new economic agenda needed to tackle crises of rising inequality and ecological collapse

Global economy must not pander to β€œfrivolous and destructive demands of the ultra-rich”.

They fund political parties, profit from socially and ecologically destructive growth.

UK example - deregulation, regressive taxation, concentration of wealth, inequalities, sewage in rivers.

Another trip up to see the Taiga's nr. Budle this afternoon - unfortunately they spent most of the time sleeping. 4 Tundra's and 2 Russian White-fronts at Monk's House pool, 5 Long-tailed Ducks and 5 Slav. Grebes off Ross Links, and 200+ Russian White-fronts in the Long Nanny-Turgall area #NEbirding

Some of the 11 Taigas at Hoppen Kiln Flash this a.m. Absolutely amazing things, and so close πŸ˜ƒ. A bit of variation in bill structure and there's at least one of 'em I'd struggle with if I saw it by itself. One of them was repeatedly shaking it's head, which is a worryπŸ˜•. #NEbirding

232 Russian Whitefronts at The Long Nanny - Tughall this a.m. Only countable when down in the flooded area. There was a possible 2cy Greenland with Pinks in the flooded area, but I couldn't find it (or even see most of the birds) when they moved to the fields @gary-woodburn.bsky.social

Bradford Council closed 3 recycling centres to save Β£900,000 a year, leaving some people with a 22 mile journey. The result is hardly surprising & the overall cost will likely be higher financially & environmentally.

Since he’s been cheerleading US & Israeli bombing in Iran (which resulted in 150 dead at a girls primary school today), I thought now would be a good time to out @zootherabirding.bsky.social as the virulent racist that he is. Wouldn’t be caught in a million miles of a Zoothera birding tour!

Dear Lucy
On the eve of the by-election, your Labour party spokesperson has admitted to the Huffington Post that a
Labour party leaflet has been delivered through doors with your imprint recommending a vote for Labour
by a tactical voting organisation which does not exist.
This is deeply troubling, it is actually lying to voters. Did you approve this? Do you feel the Labour Party
in government should be held to different standards in terms of honesty to the British public?
In your last letter to me you mentioned your β€˜very extensive data’ and β€˜having spoken to over a third of
eligible voters’ which led you to an understanding that the by election β€˜was a contest between labour and
Reform’. Clearly this latest development only tells voters one thing - you will employ any type of
political deception (or in Urdu β€œDhoka” ) to win.
You will be very aware that all three real tactical voting organisations are recommending a vote for the
Greens as the best way to stop Reform. Lying to the voters, as you have been caught doing, raises the real
prospect that Reform will be the beneficiaries, something you have said that you don’t want.
As this is such an important issue, for the sake of your own reputation, I would strongly urge you to
apologise to the voters of Denton and Gorton before the polls open in the morning.”
Kind regards,
Zack Polanski
Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales

Dear @lucympowell.bsky.social,

Why did you invent a fake tactical voting company to stop the Green Party beating Reform?

I'm starting to think your letters haven't always been in good faith...
