Earlier this week at the City Hall, I connected with state & local leaders ahead of the new legislative session. Excited to bring Aurora’s voice to the conversation & collaborate on policies that strengthen our neighborhoods, support small businesses, & keep our community thriving.

As local healthcare professional Angelina Romasanta, MS, PA-C explains in her recent op-ed, illegal and counterfeit GLP-1s are being marketed as “affordable alternatives,” but they put patients at serious risk — with hospitalizations and deaths already reported nationwide.

Too many underserved communities are being targeted with deceptive advertising for unsafe, unapproved weight-loss drugs.

Rising prices aren’t abstract — they show up at the grocery store, the pharmacy, and the checkout line. When large retailers make pricing decisions, working families feel it first. Local leaders can’t ignore that reality.

Yesterday, I joined the ribbon cutting for Aurora’s Potomac Pavilion, a next-level mental health + recovery center. From walk-in care, 24-hr crisis services, and stabilization units, this facility is to make help more accessible + immediate for our neighbors and first responders.

Conversations along Colfax about the DDA, time with a community-focused jiu-jitsu gym, and listening to residents at the MLK Library about the Navigation Center.

Showing up and listening is how we move Aurora forward.

At our December 15 study session and council meeting, we discussed how tools like the East Colfax DDA can reinvest in safety, infrastructure, and local businesses—while keeping community priorities front and center. These choices shape how Aurora benefits from growth.

Earlier last week, I spent time with neighbors and first responders at a holiday gathering at Stanley Marketplace.

It was a good chance to connect outside City Hall, thank our firefighters, and spend time with people who show up for Aurora every day — on and off the job.

On Saturday, I joined a holiday toy giveaway in Ward 1 with community partners and neighbors.

Events like this show the best of Aurora coming together to support families and make sure no one is left out during the holidays.

Earlier this week, I toured the Homeless Navigation Center and joined lunch for the Homeless initiative. Seeing the work happening on the ground reminds me why addressing homelessness is a top priority for our council.
