Encounters with Shakra usually have her voice ringing out in song while dead enemies lay at her feet. But sometimes she's just resting at a make-shift camp site. The rare moments I can sit with her feel special

I'm one quest item away from getting my needle damage upgrade, and I have a dreadful suspicion as to where I'll find it. I guess it's time to finally explore Bilewaterโฆ?

For the first time since I started Silksong, I'm kinda dreading the next streamโฆ
Well, Deepnest wasn't that bad, and all of the poison swamps in the Dark Souls games weren't that bad either. Maybe Bilewater will be nice to meโฆ?
Oh well. That's for future-me to deal with
๐งต33/33
The only thing I'm really missing before I feel comfortable braving the High Halls is the needle upgrade. And the only quest item I'm missing for thatโone I don't already know how to getโinvolves muckmaggotsโฆ which means I need to start exploring Bilewater nowโฆ Oh noโฆ
๐งต32/33
Anyway, in doing all that exploration and back-tracking, I've managed to upgrade my health to eight masks, upgrade my silk to 14 pips, and acquire 3/5 mcguffins required for my next needle damage upgradeโand I'm deliberately avoiding the delivery quest that'll make it 4/5
๐งต31/33
I used the Witch Crest, along with blue tools that make my binding faster, heal more, and create explosions, to utterly wreck the Enraged Conchfly. It's def gonna be one of my go-to boss-killer builds, right up there with Wanderer+Flint Slate
๐งต30/33
And at the end of the gauntlet is the Elder Conchfly that ran away from me at the end of a previous stream when I killed its mate. Now titled the Enraged Conchfly, it has the same attacks as before, but it does them faster, and also summons lesser Conchflies to aid it
๐งต29/33
The area seems to be another massive platforming gauntlet. It's similar to Mount Fay in that it wants you to go fast, but it's in the form of plants that grow to create platforms and walls that wither away in seconds. Progress requires you never slow down once you start
๐งต28/33
Changes that I was able to take advantage of in the very last area I explored on stream: the Sands of Karak, a sandy oasis filled with dusty plants that grow and die quickly, and spiky destructible rock structures that look like coral
๐งต27/33
But the real star of the show is the bind skill, which creates a small tangle of brambles around Hornet, dealing three ticks of damage and healing her up to three masks when the brambles hit an enemy. Healing is now an attack, which makes fascinating changes to combat
๐งต26/33
What's more, the Witch Crest gives you *THREE* slots for blue tools. Every blue tool I've acquired thus far has been good, and the competition for slots is rather fierce. That I get 3 of them immediately puts this crest high in my rankings for best crest in the game
๐งต25/33
I'd heard of the Witch Crest before, but I didn't realize you got it by becoming parasitized. It has a really cool Wanderer-esque moveset, with longer range but slower attacks. I'm especially into its version of the needle strike: an exact copy of HK1's Cyclone Slash
๐งต24/33
Well, *technically* not all of the parasite is gone, but enough of it has been unbound that she's no longer hampered by it. In fact, the lingering remnants of the parasite in her shell actually gives her new powers in that it becomes the Crest of the Witch!
๐งต23/33
Thankfully, Hornet is a demigod with an incredible capacity to heal from injury, so the horrific machine of needles that Yarnaby unleashes on her *does* actually free her from the parasite (rather than kill her)
๐งต22/33
In any case, the doctor I need is named Yarnaby, a bug who lives in a bellhome deep in upper Greymoor. Apparently, he was banished from Bellhart for extreme medical malpractice? You can even see the body-bags of bugs he'd killed, stacked in the hall outside his bellhome
๐งต21/33
What follows afterwards is a whole ordeal where I need to find a doctor to get this parasite out of Hornet. Or I assume it's *supposed to be* an ordeal. In truth, much of my exploring in earlier streams allowed me to free myself from the parasite within 25 minutes
๐งต20/33
When Hornet regains consciousness, she's wrapped up in vines in an unexplored part of Shellwood. Upon freeing herself, she realizes that the vines are also inside her, limiting her ability to make and use silk. She's also in incredible pain
๐งต19/33
After some faffing about, I took the weird crying plant baby I acquired two streams ago to Greyroot, the weird talking plant grandpa in Shellwood. Upon receiving it, he immediately and forcibly stuffs the plant baby into Hornet's shell, resulting in her passing out
๐งต18/33
This area is also the location of of Pharloom's Mask Maker. And their words are just as cryptic as Hallownest's Mask Maker. Tho, they both have the same spiel about a faces and identity. I'll be sure to come back and talk to him again at some point.
๐งต17/33
And like with most Weaver-related things in this game, the place was at some point abandoned. We don't know how long it's been since the last Weaver tried to make this climb, but the many structures along the mountain have since completely rusted over
๐งต16/33
Lore-wise, the place seems to be some sort of proving ground, where the climb and cold are a test of resolve for any seeking a boon from the Fayforn. The Weaver tech built into the mountain suggests this practice lasted for at least long enough to build the infrastructure
๐งต15/33
It lands in front of Hornet, then smothers her. And when it lets go, downy feathers have been somehow sewn into Hornet's cloakโmaybe through magic? In any case, the addition of these feathers grant Hornet immunity to cold and the ability to double jump
๐งต14/33
Once at the top of the mountain, I found a big tuning fork that resonates with Hornet's Needolin. Upon playng a song, the fork rings out, summoning the massive winged creature that roosts at the mountain's peak, and a very bird-like bug: the Fayforn
๐งต13/33
That said, it was a *fun* gauntlet. Probably one of the funnest platforming gauntlets I've done in Silksong. It didn't ask quite as much as the White Palace did in HK1โand is significantly more forgiving than White Palaceโbut I still felt quite accomplished by the end
๐งต12/33
Well, 15 minutes *this* stream. I also spent 35 minutes *last* stream doing attempts, as well as a good chunk of time in between where I learned how to use the harpoon. All things considered, it *was* still a long gauntlet.
๐งต11/33
I went back to Mount Fay to complete the platforming gauntlet that I walked away from last stream. Turns out, it wasn't that long of a gauntlet. In fact, I was kinda disappointed it wasn't longer. It only took me 15 minutes to get to the top of the mountain.
