He remains quiet—, simply listening. It’s clear his focus is entirely fixated on her as he watches her.

“. . . I assume—, this tech? I assume she is you and you are being. . . Humble or perhaps embarrassed?”

“By all means—, I have been known to be a good listener from time to time.”

His frame relaxes—; gaze following her as she moves, though he’s curious as to what this story could be.

“But if you would be so kinda—, I am eager to hear your tale.”

“Bah—, they were lovely. Even for wild animals—.”

Mimicking her smile, he nods slowly.

“I remember telling my sister of this—, and she was envious. Begged me to take her hunting with me to try and find them again.”

Leaning back, a soft sigh escapes his lips as he closes his eyes.

“No, no. . . I was simply out in the wilderness for three days.

Though like I said—, I believe they didn’t eat me partly because I kept her and her pup fed.”

A soft chuckle escapes, though he drinks back another sip.

“They were wonderful—, I should have kept a better eye on them.”

“In total three days—, I would like to believe the mother saw me as an ally. . . Providing food for her and her young.”

Shoulders rise, a nonchalant shrug.

“I wandered with them—, learning how they operate. It was my real first lesson in teamwork and unity.”

— his mug down, he hums out. Eyes closing as he recalled the events.

“A mother wolf and her cubs found me—, provided warmth and I returned the favor with some meat from my hunt. . .”

“. . . Outskirts of a Russian city. Lots of wooded areas—.”

With another sip, he soon continues.

“I used to head out and camp in the snow for days while my parents were away—. One day, I lost track of time. . . I was snowed in and unwilling to move and lose my position.”

Settling —

“No I mean the Siberian type—.”

A chuckle escapes, his frame relaxing against his seat as he speaks.

“When I was younger—, before I joined the program I adored hunting. . . Spending time in nature was lovely, and I’d often lose track of time.”

Slowly shifting to sit—, a soft huff escaping as if he were an old man. Instead of speaking immediately he takes the mug, raising it to his lips for a sip.

“. . . So—, how would you like to hear about how I was found and adopted into a wolf pack?”

Surprisingly he has no preference—. Though cream and sugar sounds lovely now.

Ah, she underestimates how light his storytelling can be.

Sure he’s basically a hitman for ONI, but he’s got some. . . Lighthearted stories as well.

He would adore a refill—, let him join her.

He could perhaps try to talk her to sleep if his cardio regimen doesn’t suit her fancy.

He can spin tales of his exploits and his youth to bore her to sleep.

His cardio routine is a bit. . . Extreme.

A few dozen kilometers on a treadmill with a few kilograms of weight.

Oxygen reduced incline sprints.

Just enough to feel the burn in his muscles and to wear himself out for sleep.

Spartan level?

It’s not exactly the best idea, but it’s worked for him. Dedicate a few hours in the war games simulator, usually after a few hours he’s feeling ready to crash.

Otherwise, hit the gym. Cardio can be exhausting.

She spoken with one of the doc’s?

They could probably give her somethin’, otherwise. . . She might have to exhaust herself first. Hit the rec room or somethin’.

He’s seen what exhaustion can do first hand and it ain’t pretty, Spartan or not.

A thumb moves, lifting the bottom of his helmet up just so he could draw in a sip. A hum escapes as he offers another nod.

Though forerunner DNA?

That’s genuinely interesting, he’s only heard of a few people with similar biology.

Surprisingly he can.

ONI doesn’t like the concept of sleeping on the job. He has on record thirty-six hour’s, but for a non-augmented soldier?

She’s downright impressive.

Yet a large hand will take the coffee, all before he nods in thanks.

Honestly? Cleansing by fire seems like it’d solve half the problems on base.

As for him being awake?

He’s got some insomnia—, so he burns himself out however he can.

Very true, perhaps a maintenance request is needed?

As for the smell? His helmet does a pretty good job of dampening any and all scents.

Very true—, though he’s got a feeling some of the marines are keeping the cleaning staff at bay.
