A common redshank wades through shallow, still water, lifting one bright orange-red leg mid-step. Its soft brown upperparts and pale, finely speckled underparts are clearly visible, along with a straight bill that fades from red at the base to dark at the tip. Gentle ripples spread around its legs, and the bird’s full reflection is mirrored crisply in the calm surface below.

Let in de komende maanden maar eens op rijen met wilgen. Daar ligt nogal eens doodstil een vrouwtje op. Het mannetje scharrelt er soms nog wat omheen.
